NY State require High School students to take Regent exams in certain subjects. The NY Board of Regents prepares the test and EVERY public HS student taking that course in NY is REQUIRED to take the regents.

Now here is the problem. Last month many schools in Central NY closed due to a winter snow storm. Since the test was not given on the day directed by NY State, students will not be able to retake the test until June.

From the State side, they want to ensure complete confidence in the test. Theoretically, a student in Albany could call his friend in Syracuse and give him some of the questions.

From the students view, they have studied hard, but will have to retain/restudy the course instruction until the next test in June.

To add fuel to the fire, one test was the English Regents - which is a two day test. Many students did complete phase I, but was unable to take finish the test the following day.

So, should NY State change its policies?
