Bob Jones is supposed to be Larry King's guest tonight on CNN at 9PM eastern according to a promo seen earlier today.

Will they have subtitles for people who don't speak "backwoods redneck racist?"

    Joshua

P.S. Or I guess they could get Trent Lott to interpret.

As a BJU graduate, there is nothing more embarrasing to me than when Dr. Bob goes on Larry King. This is like the 5th time.
He's a very nice man, but why does he have to persist?

That will be quite enough, Mr. Villnes. [IMG] From the his last appearence on the Larry King Show, Dr. Bob aquited himself in fine fashion. As for why he goes on the show, well, Dr. Jones is in a leadership position. I'd rather he talked about what he believes rather than someone else doing the talking for him.

I wish I could see that show Dr Jones is well respected and I have been looking at BJU for my
Son and talking to staff at major colleges and
uni's in the USA. BJU is the best and respected
Christian Uni. in the USA and if you know a better one please tell me where in the US it is.
As for Larry King he is a Talk Show Host and he gets interesting people to Talk I see he has been
on 5 TIMES well from a christian point of view wheather redneck blueneck or whiteneck he must get
a fare number of Viewers, otherwise why would LK
have him on so many times????

Josh, that comment just shows how far from reality you really exist.

Bob Jones III did not impliment the original restriction on black/white dating. Btw, I am for black/white dating. B.J. III is not my hero either. He did an excellent job though.

I sure would hate it if I was held accountable for the things my great grandfather said or did. I imagine my great grandchildren will feel the same way.

It appears that most of the time you don't understand plain English, logic, and grammar. If you did, it seems hard to imagine you would say the stuff you do at times.

Did you watch it? If you did, even you should have been impressed and corrected by his repudiation of your silly comments. He specifically was asked about his own racism and clearly denied it. That should not have been missed by you. You make a lot of accusations but never seem to be able to back any of them up. You make your fast little comments that require no accountability, no support, no factual basis. Then you run on not even knowing what you are talking about. That is truly sad ...

Isn't having Bob Jones on to comment on racism about the same as asking Michael Jackson and Paula Poundstone to comment on good parenting skills?

No. It's not the same at all. Perhaps Bob Jones the first and the current Bob Jones are different people. Different views, different ideas.

I'm not sticking up for Bob Jones the first. I'm saying we shouldn't dismiss one for something the other did.

It isn't a wicked policy. If parents say that they want their child to marry a person with a particular color of skin, that is their right. Now, whether the child obeys is up to them. The parents are not wicked for saying so, though. Do you get it? As a school, they have the right to do as they please in setting whatever standards they want. Ask him yourself. I am not defending him personally. He stated plainly that he is not a rascist. The fact that you continue to say otherwise is either intention foolishness or misguided arrogance.

    Really?

I disagree. It's racist, pure and simple and I don't think racism has any place in the Body of Christ. If you do, well...

I agree. As distasteful and as dispicable as I happen to believe racism to be, I do supprt the parent's right to raise their children in the manner they see fit.

I disagree. A parent who teaches his child to be racist is wicked.

I not only get it, I support their right to run their school anyway they want. If they wanted to have cross burnings on the quad or Black and white seperate drinking fountains, then, as utterly disgusting as I find that, I would support their right as a private entity to make their own rules.

However, having the right to do something and being right in doing it are not always the same thing.

    Actually, I have.

About three years ago or so, we protested an Ian Paisley visit.

I e-mailed him about it and basically got a "screw you, you're going to Hell" letter back from him.

No, but you are defending the school's racist policy.

Have you ever heard the old saying, "What you do speaks so loudly, I can't hear what you say"?

One could say the same about your claiming that for a school calling itself "Christian" to set a racist policy or a parent to teach their child racism isn't wicked.

If you read my first couple of posts on this thread, you would see that I am neither a rascist nor do I object to people of different color marrying.

I have also said I was not defending BJ III. He is the one that got rid of the policy.

Just so you know, I don't refer to people of a different skin color as mine as another race. We are all part of the human race.

Your comments have as much substance as Josh's.
