i stumbled across some other baptist boards as i was surfing the baptist top 1000 and found that they are not biblically based and very liberal. what seems to be missing is edification and and gospel concerns. what i have noticed on liberal baptist boards or board is a lot of gossip and bashing fundamental Christians and ongoing weakening views of scripture. i really get tired of liberal religionist views and i always look to warn of this type of movement that seems to always creep into our domain to weaken and to twist good doctrine into the liberal way of destruction.

Massdak, You often refer to liberals and liberals being wrong.

    What is a liberal?

liberal religionists are those who do not believe Gods word as inerrant, they believe that the gospel has many paths, they believe in metaphors in place of sound doctrine, the list goes on and on with extreme views of accepting homosexuality as not sinful and abortion as not murder. i loath liberalism and it is a serious threat to good doctrine. liberalism will never win but it is a very serious error that must always be warned of and condemned harshly. i always call on all liberal preachers and teachers to resign.

There are a range of liberals, just as there are a range of fundamentalists. Not all people who are liberal believe that God's Word is inerrant - their definition of inerrant may be different than yours. Not everyone who believes that abortion is always murder is liberal as well.

What do you make of moderates?

So anyone who doesn't fit the definition of a fundamentalist - you would consider them liberal?

Often Moderate Baptists are picked on by others that are into stuff like KJVO, Cessationism etc. Hence some of the other Boards can be more attractive, particuarly if there is good friendship amongst the posters.

    That's true enough.

Every discussion board has it's own climate. But none are set at "perfect".

The only truly "nice" discussion boards are the ones that only allow fellowship. And while they are nice, they feel a little "Stepford wives"ish sometimes.

By the standards of many modernday fundamentalists, the people who wrote 'The Fundamentals' (the book that gave fundamentalists their name) were liberals.

Aye to that; I don't have a particular problem with the original Fundamentals, but you would be hard pressed to find anyone here (including me) who would consider me a fundamentalist.

    Yours in Christ

To define liberals that way is a little broad. I'm as conservative as they come but c'mon, fair is fair. Just as you wouldn't want them to lump us all in to the most extreme category, let's not do that to them.

One of the things I've learned is that labels are useless when it comes to the Body of Christ.

I can post on onlinebaptist and be considered a liberal heretic simply for daring to believe that one's salvation isn't dependant on the church he attends and I can post on cmcentral and be considered a facist for sticking up for sound doctrine and scriptural integrity.

I was once told by a poster here who now, thank God, has moved on to greener pastures, that I was unsaved simply because he didn't like the music I listen to and another one told me that my walk with Christ was in trouble for a similarly stupid reason.

Then I go to Jesusfreakhideout.com, where they appreciate my stand for Christ and my defense of sound doctrine.

I talk to liberal Christians all the time and I talk to Christians who (mistakenly) believe I'm a lib.

I just try to remeber what Augustine said, "In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, charity."

Hey, that Augustine sounds like a smart feller. I wonder if he wrote anything else? :D
    [IMG] to his quote.

BTW, thanks for mentioning jesusfreakhideout.com. I can honestly say I have never been there prior to tonight, and I really enjoyed it. I have to agree with their assessment of the new Jars of Clay CD, as well as the new Tait CD, which I love equally.
