It seems like most evangelism programs, most pastors, and most ministries are designed not to offend anyone. So unlike the methods of Jesus and the Apostles, people today seem to be obsessed with pleasing everyone and offending no one. The goal is not to offend people but offending people comes with the territory as the gospel itself is a offensive, and a stumbling block to the Jews, and foolishness to the gentiles (1 Cor 1:23). We are also the smell of death to the perishing (2 Cor 2:15-16).

Taking these verses and others that speak of similar matters why is it that so many seem not to want to offend anyone these days?

If you actually look at the scriptures, most of the people who took offense at Jesus and the apostles were the religious people. Those who were down and out and the "sinful" folks loved Jesus because He treated them with dignity and respect.

Both the "left" and "right" wing, the Sadducees and the Pharisees.

I really don't know but scripture never teaches that... In fact in 2 Timothy it teaches just the opposite... What do you think?... Here is Apostle Paul's admonition to Timothy... You decide?... Brother Glen

    2 Timothy 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

    4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

Colossians 4:5-6 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

What we should be preaching to the lost is the gospel. What we should be preaching is ONLY the gospel. And they will either be offended by the gospel message and reject it, or they will be offended by the gospel message and through a godly sorrow be led towards repentance, or they will ignore it. But we, ourselves, do not need to be offensive (and we shouldn't be offensive).

I think that what is often lacking in evangelism is that wisdom of which Paul taught in Colossians 4. Too often people seem to want to grind people's noses in their sins, to confront and convict them, instead of sowing the seed and trusting God to work the harvest as He wills.

Preaching the truth in love offends lots of people these days! For example I said to someone that forbidden topic people will not inherit the kingdom of heaven, and those that died in Orlando (living in sin) went to Hell unfortunately, and that offended people and even a Christian person who said I did not know that. But I do know that because the Bible is quite clear that those that live in this sin will not inherit the kingdom of Heaven. Thats speaking the truth in love. Speaking hate is to let people live in this sin, and not to say anything about it, and where those that live in it are headed.

The Pharisees hated Christ & put him to death.....remember that before you open your mouth.....and count the cost.

And other Pharisees buried Christ, and yet others became zealous converts.

Josephus tells us that the Pharisees had the people on their side, enough so that the Sadducees had to basically run the Temple as the Pharisees decided.

I can think of a couple of reasons that what you said would be offensive. One is because to the lost the gospel is offensive. But another reason is that you do not know the status of those who died in Orlando. There are many who frequent those types of establishments to socialize without being "hit on". Others may go with friends. And some may even go as a witness. I don't know the state of those who died in Orlando. I do know that it is an opportunity to show compassion and spread the gospel.

Can you see the hearts of people and know if they are saved or not? If you can know the heart of a man does that mean you are claiming to be God? 1 Samuel 16:7 "for the LORD sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart."

Are you of the opinion that their sin is worse than your sin? That you are a better class of sinner than they are?

You know, for the past 60 years I have searched the bible and I can not find that verse that says God has given us the ministry of judgmentalism. All I can find is that He has given us the ministry of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:18 "And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation."

In fact, the only judgmentalism I can find in the bible was on the part of the self-righteous Pharisee. Luke18:11 "The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican."

    One evening in October
When I was about one-third sober
And was taking home a load with manly pride
My poor feet began to stutter
So I lay down in the gutter
And a pig came up and lay down by my side

Then we sang "It's All Fair Weather"
    And "Good Fellows Get Together"
Till a lady passing by was heard to say
She says, "You can tell a man who boozes
    By the company he chooses"
And the pig got up and slowly walked away.

All sin leads to Hell apart from Christ but those that choose to live in "forbidden topic sin" will not inherit the kingdom of Heaven as scripture plainly teaches this. So yes unfortunately those that live like this will go to Hell. This is all the more important why we need to evangelize them.

That's why I said those that live in this sin will go to Hell as scripture plainly teaches this. No I am not sure about everyone but the vast majority.... This is all the more important why we must be out witnessing to them.

Many go to Hell daily and what are you doing to advance the gospel? Please be out witnessing and talking with people giving out tracts, writing letters, and whatever else to preach repentance and faith.

Really quite nice of them after convicting him and killing him in a most sadistic way.....one of their own. Which reminds me of Christ teaching to let the dead bury the dead.

Ours is not to teach Scripture to the lost. It is to share the gospel. You can't even say that the "vast majority" of those who were killed were without a doubt lost with any type of authority at all. That is why I think it best not to go there. And that is why I think that you "go too far" sometimes in trying to convict other people.

No, I will not go along handing out tracts because I am not called to do so. I pray that you will be blessed in your efforts, and trust that God is using you to His glory. My witness, however, is in accordance with my own calling and not yours. Sometimes I think that you would be better off if you would focus more on your own ministry and let other servants serve as they are called. But you are right that it is important to witness to the lost.

28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Mt 11

19 He shall not strive, nor cry aloud; Neither shall any one hear his voice in the streets.
20 A bruised reed shall he not break, And smoking flax shall he not quench, Till he send forth judgment unto victory.
21 And in his name shall the Gentiles hope. Mt 12

24 And the Lord`s servant must not strive, but be gentle towards all, apt to teach, forbearing,
25 in meekness correcting them that oppose themselves; if peradventure God may give them repentance unto the knowledge of the truth,
26 and they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him unto his will. 2 Tim 2
