Anyone know why ND football is constantly televised? Especially this year.

I believe that NBC has a contract with them to televise all of their games. I guess their ratings are really down this year.

It's amazing how the talent level dropped after the seniors graduated and others left. They did not have the players to step up and feel in.

I love it, though. Notre Dame is the most overrated team in the history of college sports. Just because your program had a lot of success in the past doesn't mean that you are any good right now.

There is a reason they haven't won a bowl game since the early nineties--they get invited to higher-tiered bowls than they deserve.

ND has a long-term contract with a major network. Historically, they have had highly ranked teams going to major bowls. This, plus their national audience created a good deal for the network. It was definitely a good deal for ND, and their ability to keep all of their TV revenue has been a major reason for them to remain independent. Perhaps the networks will reconsider the next time the contract comes around.

It's a contract that goes back to the 90's when ND actually could attract football players and a viewing audience.

The players and the audience aren't the problem. It's the coach.

Which is probably why they can no longer attract players or viewers.

    why are they televised?????

    Come on!!!!

If they can overcome the Mighty Duke Blue Devils, they are a shoo-in at 2-10 for their 1,262nd national championship!

I am absolutely eating up the monumental collapse of the most preferentially treated, catered-to, overcompensated, underpunished program in the NCAA. I hope the Notredame Broadcasting Company loses their shirts.

(can you tell I'm still sore about Notre Dame's "national championship" given to them in 1977?)

Weis's recruiting is still top-notch. His problem is that he does less with more. WAAAAY less.

OH, how sad would it be for that program if they were to lose to the Dukies.

I hear the NCAA was so angry about Notre Dame's violations a few years ago, that they penalized Ball State for 3 more years.
