Last night on the Tonight Show, Leno had Obama on, and gave him the portion of the show to speak and share.

This is one more despicable act by network television to prop up a poor president. The attempt by NBC and L to use the Tonight Show to get votes [free air time] for Obama shows a lack of integrity when they do not offer the same kind of television time to any of the opponents running for the office of POTUSA...

If this bothers you too, let the advertisers of the Tonight Show and NBC in general, know of your disdain for their one-sided cronyism!

And if you agree, "share" this with your family of friends here on Gather! If you agree with this post, then help SPREAD THE WORD about the media's love affair and cronyism with Obama. Share this post with as many others as you can. And turn off the Leno and NBC until after the elections!

And for my naysayers [of this post]...YES, I know that NBC can do what they want with their programs [as it is their television network, and there is such a thing as freedom of speech], but if that is true, then so can I, do and say what I want in showing my displeasure with their one-sided program choices, and Jay Leno as a host and a person.

According to my ballot, there are no less than 5 other candidates running for POTUS, and in the name of fairness and fair programming, each of the candidates should be allowed to be a guest on the Tonight show. :type:

I've been frustrated that in every election, especially presidential elections, the late night hosts--all of them, as far as I can tell--aim joke after joke, relentlessly pounding the conservative candidates over and over, month after month, trying to paint them as uptight flip-floppers out to take away rights and ruin people's good time. I believe this affects the public perception of a candidate, and of course laughter is the immediate refutation of any serious argument.

As Mark Russell used to say, "If they did give me so much good material I would not be able to talk about them."

Do your remember his singing his song set to "Chattanooga Choo-Choo:

    Pardon me boys
Are you the cats who shot Ceausecu
    You made my day
The way you blew him away

His jokes and songs were very topical and he admitted they had "a shelf life shorter than cottage cheese."

I put the Ceausecu one here as it is probably less offensive to you than the ones he sang about some "family values" Republicans in the 90's.

Was it chronism when Romney appeared on Fox?

FWIW, I've been spreading the word since the days of Clinton. In fact, shouting it, when the opportunity has presented itself since the run up to the 08 elections. And not only about NBC.

Stopped subscribing to our regional daily newspaper in 08 when their bias moved from their editorial pages. It was bad enough when it endorsed Obama and other liberals on their editorial pages. (It was their right to do so, there.) It was too much when "news" reporters became Obama "supporters".

Stopped subscribing to our local small town weekly newspaper, earlier this year for the same reason.

Stopped watching one of the local TV stations, in 08, when their news reporting became pro Obama. For example, from all the polls, they only reported the one most favorable to Obama. For example, they ignored news reports that did not portray Obama as a saint. While reporting on every situation that could paint McCain as a sinner.

BTW, this WAS a conservative TV station in the days when Jesse Helms was their editorial director. http://janechastain.com/2008/07/10/the-authenic-jesse-helms-the-one-i-knew-and-loved/ (Please start another thread if you want to bash Jesse Helms.)

For 50 years now I've been watching the "media" move towards the left. The "Fairness Doctrine" is waiting in the wings to be revived to go along with the Equal time rule that exempts "Talk Shows" from giving equal time to political candidates.

#1 Funny thing aboout you saying that, I read the news everyday and never knew Romney was on Fox, but I've seen at least a dozen reports on Obama appearing on Jay Leno.

#2 I'm sure Fox would welcome Obama on their programs with open arms and present him with many "intelligent" questions.

#3 If Obama did appear on Fox there wouldn't be a bunch of hackiling and jeering people sitting in the audience acting like a group of trained monkeys while he answered strategically leading questions.

#4 I'd be willing to wager that when Romney did appear on Fox they asked him some tough questions that were not meant to just to build him up but to get real answers.

    Regarding the Four Responders....

I would guess that three out of four isn't a bad number to get thus far.

As for FOX and Obama, I know that O'rielly had Obama on last election, because i remeber the interview. And it was tough, unlike Leno smoozing him up for 40 minutes.

The fairness doctrine needs to apply to all elections. HOWEVER, after looking at the most recent polls, I can understand the urgency behind NBC having Barry do that guest appearance. He is either tied, or barley beating Romney, in most polls.

I wonder whether Leno will have the dethroned king back on his show after January 2013? Probably, because his guest stars are mostly losers any ways [Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin, Jane Lynvh, Ellen Degenerated, and a long list of lesbians giving homage to their spouses during the interview]. And if that isn't bad enough, most of his monolog and guests are foulmouthed to boot.

Leno used to be a decent guy. But that isn't the case anylonger! :tear:

As a side note, not to derail your thread.....

Take a closer look at the Fairness Doctrine. It goes far beyond elections. The Equal Time rule, if it weren't for the exemptions, would be enough for elections. If revived and implemented to the extent desired by liberals, conservative talk radio would disappear, for example, Radio would have to offer corresponding programming that supports liberal viewpoints in the same manner. However, the listening/participating audience for such programming is weak, if it exists, at all. Radio can't survive if it offers programming without an audience. Without an audience, advertising time isn't purchased. The end result is that lack of support for liberals means conservative views can't be offered either. -- That's my understanding from the days when this was a hot topic issue. --

Back to the topic of this thread..........

FWIW, I also quit watching late night talk shows, too.

Sometimes think I'm becoming a hermit with regards to what comes into my home these days. If the trend continues, the padlock on the "gate" may rust permanently in it's locked position.
