President Obama has a huge political debt to the unions and that’s why he’s avoiding the obvious solution to the auto crisis.

GM is in deep trouble mostly because the United Auto Workers have festooned the company with rigid work rules and extravagant costs.

Historically, failing American companies like GM have entered bankruptcy. In bankruptcy, they either liquidate or, if the firm is worth saving, reorganize.

Bankruptcy reorganizations are painful for stakeholders. Hard-nosed judges give workers, managers and debtors severe haircuts in order to reshape a firm into a new organism that can thrive again. But bankruptcy can work. Most everyone has flown on an airline that has emerged from a successful bankruptcy. This economic crisis is unique in history in that troubled firms have sought protection from politicians, rather than bankruptcy courts. Why? Because if you’re politically connected, you can expect a much better deal from politicians than you would ever get from a worldly and experienced bankruptcy judge.

Yeah but at least he (Obama) had the good sense to appoint the privately owned "Federal Reserve" and Wall Street to his administration. Not only is he sleeping with the enemy of the United States of America he put him in charge of everything. Shouldn't take to awful many quesses to figure out who's going to gain all the profits from our republic's demise.l

I love how the people who were yelling about Bush firing his own federal judges see nothing wrong with the zero's strong-arming of private business.

    Good to see you, Poncho.

Strange how blind we become when "one of ours" is puppet in chief isn't it?

Thanx. It's good to be back.

True, but many of us don't BLINDLY support an "anything goes long's we got the power" philosophy like the left does. (It was bad during the Clinton years, but it's reached epidemic proportions with the "0" )

Also, one does tend to be a bit more lenient with his own kids than with the antics of others - even though you do hold them accountable.

Long time no see! Welcome back!

Elected union officials don't work for Obama.
