President-elect Barack Obama's proposed tax cuts ran into opposition Thursday from senators in his own party who said they wouldn't do much to stimulate the economy or create jobs.

We haven't seen what happens when the legislation hits the floor for debate. Some democrats disagree with the business tax cuts while some republican's disagree with money to the states and all the infrastructure spending. Obama thinks this plan will pass with 80% support. I guess we'll see over the next few weeks but he's got some selling to do.

Two things on Obama's side, he still has a high popularity rating and so far he has the majority of American's supporting the plan though I am the first to admit we don't know much about it. He will loose some American's support as the plan gets attacked (by both dems, GOP, economist and the media).

Oh... Obama also promised no pork riders in this legislation like with the first bailout plan. It will be interesting to see if he can get 80% support without trading pork fat for votes... I guess that means it will get so hacked up going through the house it won't look the same on the other end.

It is a shame and a tragedy that the Republicians showed no oversight of Bush 2000-2006. Perhaps we are going to have a real government of checks and balances again.
