I've noticed that the Dems are putting a heavy emphasis on the military and veteran issues. One of Michelle Obama's signature issues as first lady is the treatment and well-being of families of veterans. In addition the Dems had several veterans give speeches during the first day of their convention. They were proud of the job that Obama has done in Iraq and Afghanistan (and rightly so, mostly.) Many of the conventioneers were wearing military or veteran clothing. There wasn't much attention paid to the military and veterans at the Republican convention, and nary a mention of Iraq and Afghanistan. In fact, I can't recall any veteran presence at their convention. I found this to be an odd transposition of traditional roles of the political parties and the military.
