Fox News: US, Russian forces hunt jihadist 'white widow' feared inside Olympic zone

U.S. counterterrorism operatives are helping Russian security agents in the hunt for four female potential terrorists, including a "white widow" -- the wife of a dead terrorist -- who could already be inside the massive security zone set up for next month's winter Olympics.

Ruzanna Ibragimova, the 22-year-old widow of a jihadist killed by Russian security forces, is believed to have traveled from Dagestan to Sochi, according to a Russian security bulletin obtained by FoxNews.com, along with photos of her. The bulletin and photos were distributed by the Russian security force FSB and Sochi security officials to U.S. and other security agencies late last week.

"The notice is the first sign that terrorists may have managed to penetrate the security cordon," stated a bulletin from U.S. security forces that was obtained by FoxNews.com.

An intelligence source who spoke to FoxNews.com called Ibragimova a "white widow," and explained that the term is used to jihadists' widows who seek to "blend in" to mount attacks. But the term "black widow" is also prevalent as a description particularly of Chechen widows whose husbands have been killed in the ongoing fight against Russia.

That U.S. counterterrorism forces are working with the Russians is very nearly unprecedented, given the inter-agency jealousy and low-key animosity that has been experienced in the past. Not to mention, the ongoing Edward Snowden debacle that has the escaped spy/traitor hiding in Russia and untouchable by the U.S.

Then again, Russia is worried about having a terrorist incident happen in the midst of their showcase Olympics, and the U.S. is worried about that terrorist incident killing American athletes. So unprecedented or not, it's a good thing.

Vilayat Dagestan, formerly known as Shariat Jamaat, was created during the Second Chechen War. It calls for an Islamic state in Dagestan and is responsible for killing hundreds of civilians, military and security personnel, and government officials.

The group was loyal to Shamil Basayev, the Chechen commander who was indoctrinated and trained by the Pakistani Inter Services Intelligence in Khost, Afghanistan, at the Amir Muawia camp set up in the early 1980s by the CIA and ISI and run by the Afghan warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. His mujahideen group, Hezb-e Islami, was funded by the CIA and the Afghan drug trade.

“Following the dissolution of the USSR, radical Afghanistani Mujahadeen, Islamists from Saudi Arabia, from Turkey, Pakistan and other Islamic countries flooded into the Muslim regions of the former USSR,” writes F. William Engdahl. “The existence of the so-called jihadist Salafi brand of Islam in Dagestan is quite recent. It has also been deliberately imported.”
