We have rules of conduct on the BB. We do not use the word "heretic" here. We do not question another poster's salvation (although there are times are worry about you ;) )

We do give some leeway when someone uses a direct quotation. On another overly-long thread a quotation by Spurgeon, probably the prince of Baptist preachers of bygone years. It said that if a person did not accept the doctrines of grace (calvinism, the Gospel in a nutshell) that they were not just "weak" Christians who needed meat, but were not saved.

I quoted Piper some time back when he noted the damning heresy of the arminian/semi-pelagian works salvation.

Spurgeon did not "question the salvation" of any BB member. It was NOT a personal attack. I did not call anyone here a "heretic".

Please be wise in using a quotation (or even verse) in response to a particular poster. Like if C4K posted something I disliked and I quoted "and is in danger of hell fire". THAT is a personal response that is not in the spirit of godly discussion.

Just hoping to remind everyone that if you offended by a quotation, you have pretty thin skin. But if the quotation is directed at you and it violates the spirit of our rules, please report it.

And for the record, I do believe that some arminian types ARE weak Christians. And some calvinist types ARE weak Christians too. The spirit of this place is to help us GROW IN GRACE AND IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE LORD.

This quote by Spurgeon in the sermon is taken COMPLETELY Out of it's context as this is what follows immediately after it
    - "The Man With the Measuring Line". You can look through it for yourself.

Spurgeon wasn't stating 'if your not a Calvinist your aren't saved'. He was stating there are THOSE CALVINIST who state 'if you aren't a Calvinist you aren't saved". Thus it is quite clear that he is not one of them.

Just for the record it is blatantly false that the opposite of the ungodly term "Calvinist" is not "Arminian". If you are going to set up rules it is best you do not use pejoratives to describe those with doctrines different form yours. There are very few Arminians on this board.

What makes you think that the term "Calvinist" is ungodly and the term "Arminian" is not ? and you speak of pejoratives ?

I'm sure you weren't aware that you said the exact opposite of what you intended.

If the term "Arminian" is pejorative, then the term "Calvinist" must be one too.

Ha ha. I guess you're right. Most lean more to the semi-Pelagian side.

Wow, are those ticks back east worst than others?
All we have around here are the regular bald ones...
Hope my dog doesn't get one of those.
