ONE DAY VBS????? SERIOUSLY?????? Man, what will you want to do next? Use a sound system and computers???

Just kidding. I've NEVER heard of doing a one day VBS - it sounds so strange to me! I wish I could help you but we do the full week - even used to do a full 2 week program!! Can you imagine 2 weeks? Yikes!

For the last two years, we have done a week long VBS but it really wore my people out and we are a small church of about (25 and a lot them are older).

Also, we wanted to do something totally different from other churches in the area. It is really going to be called a SUPER SATURDAY. We currently have VBS material using just one day's worth of stuff and things go well, might try to do a week with the same material next year.

Why of course, we would have to use a sound system and computer. It wouldn't be VBS unless we use that stuff.

Another idea would be to take the VBS into a low income housing place... like a trailer park, or other apartments where there are a lot of kids...

I have heard of one day VBS's, though I am unsure of a particular curriculum that is prone to doing it for one day.

    Adapt is a key word.

I am beginning to think VBS is a dying outreach method that is designed for big churches with big budgets. Why else would they have special sections for "smaller" churches. We try to reach the entire family by offering specials and programs all at one time for the entire family.

Our little church of about 25 has an amazing VBS every year. We meet in a hired sports hall.

    Roger,

That is awesome. Just wondering, was one of the boys in the workers pic your son?

Three of my sons were in the pics :) and one was a kamper

The lad on the floor with my grandson and two lads in the middle of the back row are mine.

I thought I saw the family resemblance. It is a joy to have kids (and grandkids!) that serve and love the Lord. We are blessed men.

Thanks for the comments. We also do a teen VBS every evening the same week :)

To the topic at hand, it is A LOT of work, exhausting, and straining on a small church, but worth every second and every euro.

I find we really don't "connect" to the kids till Wednesday or Thursday. I fear that a one day VBS blitz would have a difficult making that vital connexion with the kids.

That is true. We are using this outreach to kick off our Wednesday night program for this year.

    One day VBS is common

At least in my neck of the woods. Some of the numerically smaller churches opt for one day VBS, usually on a Saturday.

If you are SBC, contact your state convention and ask whoever works with VBS what materials are available for one day VBS. I feel sure there are some.
