    OK, I'm confused. I thought that 'Anaconda' was General Winfield Scott's plan to conquer the South in the American Civil War (and ultimately successfully pursued by Messrs Grant and Sherman)

    Yes - it is confusing - it was the name of both Scott's plan for the south and Franks' plan for Afghanistan.
