MULTAN, Pakistan (AFX) - The Pakistan Medical Association has vowed not to prescribe medicines from firms based in some European countries where controversial cartoons portraying the Prophet Mohammed were published, said Shahid Rao, the body's general secretary for Punjab province.

The association will boycott drugs from Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Germany and France to protest the 'blasphemous' drawings, Rao said.

'We have taken a unanimous decision and it will be immediately implemented in Pakistan,' Rao told AFP.

'Doctors in the country are very motivated on this issue,' he said. 'We would use alternate medicines in future till a public apology comes from these countries.'

Pharmacists have also vowed not to sell such medicines, Rao said....

My opinion, these people are either morons, or don't care about their population. Perhaps both.

This boycott, as well as the Iranian boycott of Danish firms, is a violation of WTO rules. Interesting.

But it's Muslims doing it, so we have to accomidate. Don't want to anger them, they might slap a fatwa on you.

Violating WTO rules? Fagitabotit! Soon as the USA is harmonized under CODEX ALIMENTARIUS that was passed by congress in the CAFTA treaty, you'll be violating WTO rules by purchasing vitamins over the counter without a Dr's prescription or permission from the WTO.

medical note: If you have codex alimentarius, take an antibiotic, and it should clear up.

    (sorry, couldn't resist)

    Back to the argument...

No problem. There is an organization that has just been empowered by our congress to tell you what you can and cannot eat or take as suppliments. Spose you think that's freedom right?

I hope countries will not apologize, because appeasement doesn't work with these people, as we will all find out one day, no doubt.
