    NU : opposition to sinners against himself (KJV,NKJ,RSV,NRSV,ESV etc.)
    Variant 1/TR : opposition by sinners against him (NIV,TNIV, etc.)

    James 2:19

    Variant 1/WH : There is one God (KJV,NKJ,NIV,TNIV,NLT etc.)
    Variant 2/TR : God is one (no translations)

    Interesting. Happened to do a study on this and the preposition "hupo" when used with the genitive is translated "by", signifying the agend of the action.

    So the later choice - contradictory speech "by sinners" (genitive) - would be most faithful to the text.

    Actually Comfort prefers Variant 2/Wh : opposition by sinners against himself (But no translation uses it in the text.)
