Marriott victimizes young girl and boy
    Dear Diane,

"We were all enjoying the film when about an hour into it, the screen instantly changed to hard-core pornography." - Marriott guest, mother of young children
To be honest with you, I was not surprised when a New York mother contacted me about her two young children being blasted with graphic sexual images in a Marriott hotel room they stayed in recently.

That's because the Marriott Hotel chain is one of the largest purveyors of hotel pay-per-view pornography in the nation. I knew it was just a matter of time before innocent children became victims of Marriott's corporate greed and irresponsibility. Let me explain:

Last September, I asked OMM and OMD to urge Marriott to get out of the hard-core porn business. Nearly 300,000 emails flooded the Marriott corporate office over the next two weeks.

What was Marriott's response? They would continue to provide these X-rated stations to their guests because it was an "option" and parents should take responsibility.

It certainly wasn't an option for an eight-year-old girl and her five-year-old brother! While they watched a children's show, suddenly the screen changed to a full-blown sex movie. I can imagine the horror of their mother scrambling to protect her children's eyes.

To make matters worse, the hotel manager refused to speak directly to the parents about the incident because he was busy and could "not be disturbed." He made a desk clerk deal with the problem, even though the parents tried several times to speak with the manager.

The manager's lack of concern reinforces what I have believed all along. The chairman and corporate executives do not truly care about the damage their porn videos cause to their guests. They consider profiting from porn more important than respecting family values. And, if a few kids happen to be exposed to their gratuitous porn offerings, well, that's just the cost of doing business.

Is this an isolated incident? Perhaps. But the real problem lies in Marriott's corporate policy. The Marriott Hotel chain claims to be "committed to traditional family values," yet most of the corporately owned and franchised Marriotts sell "hardcore pornography" on televisions in rooms.

I need your help in contacting Marriott again. We must continue to let Marriott chairman J. W. Marriott Jr. and his executive team know porn is not a corporate value!

For the sake of our children, send your letter now and then forward this email to a friend.

    Send Your Letter Now!
    Sincerely,

    Donald E. Wildmon, Chairman

You know what. If they wanted to continue to let people see that type of meterial, what they should do is offer room for families, and rooms for just adults. ask them at the front desk. Do you want pornography with that room. Kind of like smoking and non smoking rooms. Evironment dosen't end at the butt of a cigerette. JMHO

While I'll admit that that is a good idea, the unfortunate reality in the hospitality industry (which I have been a part of for over 10 years) is that the vast majority of hotel / motel chains offer some kind of porn in their rooms. However, I'm sure a detailed search of companies would turn up the few that do not offer the in room pay-per-view ("G" to "XXX") service.

    God Bless!!!

But we need to make sure they know WHY the economic drop!

I agree with you both. There are other places. We try to find family friendly places when we travel.
