I have been a registered democrat since 1977, but haven't voted democrat in the last several elections. I don't think the democratic party today resembles in any way the party that I voted for in my youth.

I don't let the labels "Republican" or "Democrat" tell me how to vote. I have voted for Democrats and Republicans over the years, depending on the persons running for office.

In terms of Presidential politics, I have consistently voted Republican (starting with Reagan, all the way through to McCain). And I usually vote for Republicans for national office (senators and representatives).

But on the state level, I vote for a mix of Democrats and Republicans.
