    What I've been saying all along and the poll backs it up. And to think I've been called islamophobic by some on this board. My numbers were low about potential suicide bombers/jihadists here in the US - 500,000 to 1 million. But 1 in 4 out of an estimated 12 million, comes out to 3 million who would sign onto the jihad. And who will stop it, who will defend us when it happens (and it will - they call us the Great Satan), who will prevent door-to-door massacre in the US? The military? The police? The National Guard? Wake up, America.

    Not quite. The research indicates there are approximately 2.35 million Amerian Muslims (and Pew Research admits its estimate is on the high side of various studies.)

    According to the report: "Very few Muslim Americans -- just 1% -- say that suicide bombings against civilian targets are often justified to defend Islam; an additional 7% say suicide bombings are sometimes justified in these circumstances."

    Hardly your 3 million. (Even if you add the 5% that said "rarely.") Even at that, the study does not attempt to determine how many of the respondents would be willing to carry out such an attack or would countenance an attack here.

    The report did find a disturbing trend that favors radicalism among younger Muslims -- that's where the "one in four" in the headline came from.

    Muslims believe the only way to heaven and their 70 virgins is to die a martyr, so of course they approve of the suicide bombings, those guys earn a ticket to heaven.

    Acutally they believe that the other way to heaven is to live by the scales and to have the scale heavy on the deserving side. It is considered prideful and presumptuous to assume you will get into heaven by the scales. In other words it is a crap shoot. But dying a martyr is a guarantee to heaven. Under those circumstances why would you not choose to be a martyr?

    How many Muslims in this poll would not ever repsond to these questions in an honest way because of fear of persecution. In other words they really support criminal suicide bombing but remain secret.

    Exactly, so that could make even the 3 million estimate be a low estimate. Like it was pointed out, suicide/homicide martyrdom is the guarantee of paradise and 72 virgins in the islamic religion.

    A Muslim enters into paradise by obeying the teachings of Mohammed (works based faith) and do not consider the only way into heaven to be to die a martyrs death. Those Muslims that believe in the 72 virgins do not believe that only the shahid (martyrs) will receive the virgins, as all (male and female)who enter into paradise will be rewarded with servants,virgins or spouses (depending on interpretation). Not all Muslims believe in this doctrine as it is not contained in the Qu'ran but rather in a Hadith.

    I doubt it. Intentionally aimed at civillians. I doubt that the question was worded in such a wway.

    Here's how the question was worded...

    "Some people think that bombing and other types of attacks intentionally aimed at civilians are sometimes justified while others think that this kind of violence is never justified. Do you personally feel that such attacks are often justified, sometimes justified, rarely justified, or never justified?"​
