Thus the drama going on while the song is played....

It is plain to see what is going on in the skit...
there is so much symbolism there it would be hard to miss.
But if you missed it, read one of my earlier posts that describes it.

The youth of today are visual... they think in symbolism more than any other generation... Which allows God to speak to them in ways us old guys don't understand.

Plus when our youth group does it at our anniversary, the sermon will use this drama as an illustration...

Tim, you might need this strength when your 70. It does no good to debate with people like SFIC. They are going to be in Heaven by themselves with only like minded people. Only old,KJV, "old style" people that think like them have a chance.

...on the contrary, what doesnt' kill you makes you stronger. We will all live to be 140 because of debating SFIC :D

Tim it sounds like your Anniversary service will be great
    What a great idea :)
Hope you get many new visitors, sounds like a wonderful outreach
I am going to mention the idea to our Pastor
Maybe the kids could do a whole church service, they asked about that once
I would love to help out with it yet everytime I ask to do something new, I end up being nominated to head it. So I better plan on that before opening my mouth  Probably typical in churches

A few mothers kept complaining about me regarding clothing attire while working with the Teens. They seemed a bit neurotic so I ignored them, which they felt was "pure rudeness". Also, our son wasn't attending church as much due to his job so I got someone to replace me temporarily. Overall, everyone's really nice. The Pastor and other parents wanted me back so I said I would just take a break for a while. But a few Mom's don't like me but that is normal for that Department. Just reading these legalistic threads makes me want to bow out, not sure if I have the patience. Pastor says it's the hardest dept to work in.
We have no youth Pastor at the moment.

Having seen the lyrics to this song, it is even more egregious than I originally thought. (And as you know, you view was not that positive to begin with). The words have no spiritual value whatsoever. If they could somehow be made to be about Christ, they would bring Christ down to the level of a grade-school crush which is hardly appropriate.

And the Song of Solomon is not a picture of Christ and his bride. That is not what has always been taught.

I hope our anniversary goes good.. it is on Memorial day weekend... the church will be 125 yrs old....
Our choir is practicing songs from the beginning of the church up to this yr. One song a decade. Then between songs we will be discussing things that went on both in the world and our church that decade...
A musical montage of the history of our church...

We have reps from both the ABC/USA denom. coming, the WVBC Executive minister will be there... as well as former pastors. Each pastor will be given a few minutes to speak in the afternoon...

We will start at 10 on Sunday and finish around 3 with a baptism in a local creek! On Saturday, we are having a community party at the church... free food, games, music... etc...

The local country radio station will be covering the events on location that weekend... (No Gospel stations around, besides we want to get the world's attention... not other Christians! :D )

We also have publicity events leading up to it... it seems like something every weekend from here through Memorial day...

The Weekend before memorial day weekend, we are trying to work with a local gas station... The Gas station will reduce the price of Gas by 10 cents. a gallon for the first 100 customers... starting at a certain time...
Then the church will pay the 10 cents per gallon to the station...
We will have members there passing out information, witnessing, cleaning windshields, etc...
Then at the same time across the street, the youth will have a Free car wash....

a couple weeks before, the local newspaper will get a story about this upcoming event, and a couple weeks after they will get a cover story.

If someone is looking for a church around here, you won't be able to ignore us come memorial day... we will be everywhere being servant evangelists.. and at the same time advertising for our anniversary service.

We want the people here to know we love the community.

If anyone would like to visit us, PM me, and I will tell you how to find us.

Sorry you feel this way.. I see it the opposite way. :saint:

I am glad to see that you and I agree on the SoS..
I was taught that it was a picture of Jesus and the church...
I knew very few preachers growing up that didn't think it was. :wavey:

LOL FUNNY! Actually, I was thinking this very thing the other night. Debating sure can stress a body. I think I feel closer to 92 than my current chronological age. :D

Wow, 125 yrs... Praise God from whom all blessings flow...

Sounds like one super celebration with the exception of the original clergy who must be well into their hunderds by now. Probably be the first time a Baptist preacher stayed within their "few minutes" time limit... :wavey:

You are experiencing side effects TinyTim; aw, a witness to the concerns about side effects. You're busted! Tried and convicted, by your own words! ...Me too. :) Why did I feel the need to tell you that?
Good question! Now, I'm talknig to myself. I'm afraid you'll have to try to figure it out on your own. :tonofbricks:

Liked the video, and I really like the song. Not my favorite artist, but I like the song. I've done dramas like these before... the most popular when I was in high school was the "Turn Around" sketch done to "Total Eclipse of the Heart".
