As I write this OP, the news is reporting on at least five different areas where people have taken to the streets and freeways-yes, freeways-to protest the INJUSTICE of this verdict!

The most interesting one is the group of blacks who went unto the Interstate 10 and shut it down for about 30 minutes. This is just like the group that shut down the freeway over the Tyisha Miller verdict in the late 1990's. A group of thousands of blacks took to the freeway in Riverside and shut the freeway down as they protested and eventually got their voices heard when the Feds came in and convicted the three cops of civil rights violations in the killing of this 19 year old black girl!

Why is it that every time a black person is wrongly convicted; or, a person suspected of harming a black person is found not guilty; the "R" (riot and race card) word immediately surfaces!

Why can't these folks accept the verdict of Lady Justice like the general population has? You didn't see white folks rioting when OJ Simpson was freed of murder! Or when the cops were dragged back into court, found guilty of civil rights violations and fired.

The justice system is not always right, but it is the best we have, and better than most any other nation in this world, yet, when certain races get a bum deal, we have to fear riots and demonstrations, and the person set free by a jury of their peers has to worry about being brought up on civil rights charges by the Feds to appease an angry group of people.

You'd think we'd have gotten past this racial mentality. Not everybody in this nation is racist, and not everything done is racially motivated. Besides, Zimmerman wasn't white. For crying out loud: He is half Hispanic, which was very seldom, if at all, brought up??? Instead, it is "that white boy" who killed a black boy; and that mentality is what riles up the mobs wanting justice that was already served!

This is a sad day for a group of people in this country [often led by Rev. Jesse and Al]that have long ago been vindicated...my gosh, this country has even elected a black president. What else do we have to do, as a society, to appease a group of people that always find a way to protest when a jury of their peers do not bring the verdict they so badly think they deserve, based on the color of their skin? When will the sin of slavery be forgiven?

I'd appreciate your thoughts on this, because as a believer and an American, I just don't get it! :tear:

More and more we see a growing trend toward what is "deemed" a true democratic society---we will soon reach a point of "Mob Rules"---the downfall of the republic society and the rise of the rule of the people!!!:tear::tear::tear:----And there was no king in the land, and the people did what was right in their own eyes!!

RD asks----when will the sin of slavery be forgiven??? I thought that subject was dealt with at a little farm house in Appomatix

the Zimmermann jury deserves to be honored (not Trayvon Martin as Obama said).
they FOLLOWED the evidence, and the evidence pointed to the innocence of Zimmermann re the charges filed against him.
but the thing is, the guy at the White House with one cell brain PREJUDGED the guilt of Zimmermann by saying Trayvon Martin could've been his son, and then you have the other no brain cells like that actor who played the white house dumbo who wore a Trayvon Martin t-shirt.
then, like you said, there is the "Reverend" who will soon be talking dung and inciting his people to riot.
and guess what, when the debris clears up, it'll still be the white man's fault!
America is going to the dumps !!!

??? What do you expect to surface? When they live in a society where their lives don't seem to be valued by the law, they've figured out that people listen when they make race an issue. They may not be the largest minority voting blok anymore, but they can still turn an election. And the powers that be, if not the general white populace, will react to it.

This is a funny comment because you know it and I think everyone else who is being truthful knows it that White people never just accepted the OJ verdict. Though White people did not riot, OJ comes up every other day in a conversation whenever there is a trial about race. Just like it does in private conversations and in threads on this board.

So though white folks may not have taken to the streets, I would venture, that their prejudices got ramped up a notch.

You don't even realize that the statement "THESE FOLKS" is tinged with prejudice.

    See above.

When it's the same skin color getting a bum deal time and time again and nothing is changing, what do you suggest they do to get the attention of those in ivory towers?

You dismiss the prejudice factor. You don't have to be a racist to exhibit racial prejudices and this country is overflowing with it.

WRONG and WRONG and WRONG. If this is what white America thinks, no wonder there's so much turmoil. Jesse and Al are two people. Blacks don't even like them . They are just the faces that white America has put on the "race card". Long ago been vindicated? Just another indicator of how out of touch the two skin color s can be with each other.

    Here's an interesting video.

How do whites and blacks view the problem of race differently?

View the video. Because you're talking about this from a perspective that is not theirs and thus you reach a conclusion that many in the Black community would think is laughable because you don't look at or don't see the things that they still see.

And many Blacks will tell you that is the problem. White America doesn't get it. All they think is that Blacks are crying race and rioting about everything. But they never take into consideration what Blacks are seeing again and again that causes them to want to get everybody's attention and for once be heard. To have the REAL problem addressed.

This is just false. But Al Sharpton loves it you buy into it. There are plenty of Black folks who just flat out deny this.

Think again. I'd suggest you watch that video too. As it says, white people think in terms of laws. But most Blacks think in terms of structure. So where Whites see laws in place to supposedly make things "equal", Blacks see systematic racism and prejudice built into that system that most Whites ignore.

You can think it to be whatever you like. It is what it is. There are plenty of Black folks who flat out affirm it too.

Only race baters like sharpton see such stupid things. And not all blacks see it that way. Your over generalized statements only discredit you.

And one might say that only white people with inherent prejudice fail to see such things.

And obviously, not all non-Blacks see things the way that you see them.

 And I guess we're to believe that YOUR over-generalized statements are a credit to you?

Well race baters like yourself only exacerbate the whole thing. I think that is pretty specific.

Poor old Zaac, he just cannot accept that justice was done. He must be too young to remember back in the early 60's when all this crap started.

I asked my father in 1964 why the blacks didn't riot down here in Texas. He said even they have more sense that to do something that stupid. There were enough deer hunters in Houston alone to take care of the problem.

I doubt they riot anywhere near where I live. Guess I won't be getting any target practice in this week.

And yall let this boy stay on the board? Now he's talking about how he would shoot black folks the week after admitting he often calls them the "N" word?

And this is a CHRISTIAN board? Shameful!

I hate to bust your bubble, but I have never shot anyone. I also didn't use the N-word.

Since there will be no riots here I will not be forced to shoot anyone now. However, I will protect my family and possessions with up to and including deadly force if I am forced to do so. It wouldn't matter to me what color they happen to be.

If you were attacked would you allow the color of the perpetrator to decide how you react?

Nice attempt to backtrack. But you're on record for your actions.

And don't bother sending me any more PMs as I don't read anything you send after the initial threat.

Think talking using "guns" or any ethnic "slurs" is inappropriate here. Keep the discussion above a 7th grade playground level. :type:

Temper tantrums? By all reports thus far, it's been peaceful apart from one person who tried to be an idiot and throw stuff at police officers, resulting in an arrest.

You asked about why there seems to be mention of a riot every time there's something that seems unjust happening with a black person. Maybe history taught black people that letting injustice happen is a really bad idea.

Maybe other races should take note and quit laying down and accepting injustice, and maybe more solidarity should be shown among not just a single race, but among all humans in this country. When a seeming injustice happens, what are the options? Right now, you can't just let it ride through the courts. The system is corrupt. Can you honestly sit there and say you don't think our leaders and judges and courts are not corrupt, not influenced and led by money and power?

I don't care if you're purple. Short of turning the system on its head, peaceful protests are where we're at right now to get any attention whatsoever on issues that matter to citizens. Unless you have a few million, and the average citizen does not ...and should not have to have that in order to matter.
