An interesting question was raised last night after church. I know the devil can not read your mind. I know the only way he knows what we are thinking is if we say it out loud. I also know that the cheribums keep sin away from God. I also know the devil was in God's prescence when he accuse Job. The question is, can the devil hear your prayers to God if you pray out loud, or does God keep them from the devil? Please give scripture evidence.

    Shawn,

First of all, let me answer your question from the point of view of spiritual warfare. I have talked to a lot of Christians who are active in the deliverance ministry. They say that the only way a demon can be kicked out of someone is, when it is ordered to come out. I mean verbally, and loudly, in the name of Jesus. They, who have been there and done that, say that silently praying that demons come out of someone, often doesn't work. That's because the demons cannot read what is in your mind.

I have attended a camp once where a nonChristian participant got possessed and wreaked havoc. We sang hymns and prayed to kick the demon out, but to no effect. As I look back, I think we ought to have prayed and commanded, verbally and loudly, the demon to get out.

Guys, your talking silliness. The Bible clearly says that he who is in Me is greater then he who is in the world. Pray loud or pray soft but pray in Jesus name and Satan and his forces will kept at bay. Not that they won't continue there assault at other times, usally when your vunerable, which is not while you pray.

Thats what I think. Can you give some scripture to support that?

As far as I can find, the only thing that I
see that would hinder prayer, if thats what you mean by satan hearing us, is unconfessed sin in our life. As David said, If I regard
    iniquity in my heart.
Something else we have to remember, satan is not omnipresent, least I've never found proof he is. He can only be in one place at a time. I know there are many demons, but even they can do NOTHING unless our Father allows it, or we have something in our life that would give them opportunity to trip us up. Lust of the eye, lust of the flesh,& the pride of life. The same three ways satan tried to snare our Lord. But how did Jesus
counter? "It is Written". Look at all the
PRAYING men & women in the Bible. Is there
one mention of satan even trying to hinder,
attack, or anything else during the prayer?
I do have a question for Bro. Shaun... Where in scripture does it teach that the cherubims keep sin from God?

It says in Genesis 3:24 "So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life."
The cherubs were used to protect the Tree of Life from man, or sin. And in Exodus 25:22 it says "And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel."
God is sitting between them here, being protected from sin. Satan was a cherub, and is called the one that covereth. I may be wrong but that is what I gather. Even without the cherubs, sin cannot go in the presence of God. We are in His presence when we pray. Can the demons hear our prayers, when we ask for strength in a particular area we are weak in, and try and trip us up?
I do not think so but need scripture to prove it.
About satan never interfering with prayers, Daniel prayed for 21 days before he got an answer. When he got it he asked the angel what took so long and was told satan had fought Micheal all over Heaven to keep the prayer from being answered (the story is in Dan. 10).

My thinking on the Tree of Life was that
the cherub was there more to protect man than the tree. If man ate of the tree after the "fall", then he would have been an immortal sinner. But thats just a thought.
The cherubim on the ark were not living creatures.
As for prayer, what I meant was that our prayers, going UP to God can not be hindered by demons. They tried to hinder the answer for Daniel, but not his actual prayer. Now that I think about it, they would,nt have to hear our prayer to know our particular weakness, they would see it in our life & yes they would fight if we were trying to draw closer to our Lord. But he that is in us is greater than he that is in the world!
Also the scripture teaches to Draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you; resist the devil and he WILL flee. Again how did our Lord resist him? With the Word of God! :D

Remember in Daniel, he was praying for weeks and when the Angel got there, the Angel told him that he was detained by one of Satan's demons and had to wait for Gabriel (or Michael, I can't remember)...but that the Angel was dispatched from Daniel's very first prayer...I think it's in chapter 11 or 12...maybe I should check before I post huh? Sorry!

    Da 10:12
Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from
the first day that thou didst set thine heart to
understand, and to chasten thyself before thy
God, thy words were heard, and I am come for
    thy words.
    Da 10:13
But the prince of the kingdom of Persia
withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo,
Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help
me; and I remained there with the kings of
    Persia.
