Use any number you like, but state clearly that it is an estimate and not a an actual count, and of course not a known fact as you indicated in your original mention of the Lancet...study, to loosely use the word.

For the record, the above quote should be changed to be reflected as

The 650,000 is not an actual count and this was a misstatement based on the wrong presumption that the readers on this board were informed enough to be aware that no actual count of the hundreds of thousands of dead people in Iraq has been performed, due to the chaotic state of affairs and civil unrest in Iraq. This condition of course was brought on by an illegal invasion and occupation of said sovereign nation. In the future, when referring to the dead people in Iraq, this author will use the number 455,000 which is 30% less than the 655,000 previously used to meet the margin of error cited by Carpro. This author will also use 455,000 (est.) to remind Carpro and those of his like minded world view that no actual body count has been performed in Iraq. It is the hope of this author that all conditions have been met to ensure that we can return to the original post however, this author stands ready to capitulate to any add'l requests that will contribute to the termination of red herring desperation arguments.

Knowingly using inaccurate information to make a point is just another form of lying.

I appreciate your willingness to use accurate statements on this matter.

The only way it is inaccurate is that it is understated. Continuing to accuse someone of lying who has not lied is just another form of lying.

Only if you have an agenda and a higher number suits it better.

There is a magic number that they are trying to avoid where acceptable casualties becomes excessive. It must be somewhere between 400,000 and 650,000, but we can't be told the exact number because that would embolden the terrorists.

Orrrr if one believes the study was an accurate approximation when it was published, it's been 9 months since it was released and the sampling was done prior to that and since people are still getting dead in Iraq, there is a likelihood that the approximate number is higher now.

Regardless, you're quibbling. Let's take 50% of the +-30% and call it 227,500, that's still approaching a quarter of a million human beings and 56 times greater than the number of lives lost on 9/11 (not that 9/11 has anything to do with Iraq or Iran). What is the number of human beings that will have died, which will cause you to be offended?

Attempting to return to the original post, if we preemptively drop a nuclear warhead on the people of Iran, what is the number of dead Iranians that you will find to be acceptable and what is the threshold where you'd say that you wish they hadn't done that?

You can't be told the exact number because nobody knows.

    Nobody.

Sure. Go ahead. It's still only an estimate and agendas affect estimates.

Since the conflict began in 1991 and has never come to an end( we were only under a cease fire) the conflict was not illegal. Saddam failed to meet the requirements of the cease fire and 17 UN resolutions gave warning to such an out come. I know you libs like to ignore laws and make empty threats so as to look like you care and are doing something but the president says what he will do and does what he says.

What does that have to do with preemptive nuclear strikes and the Christian religion?

About as much as the false premise under which this entire thread was begun.

What false premise, carpro? I watched the debates, I saw the candidates proclaiming their unwillingness to withdraw the preemptive nuclear strike option, that they had to keep all the cards on the table. That says to me that they would be willing to play that card.

Yep, but that's not what the OP said they said. Not a one of them said they were " in favor of launching a preemptive nuclear attack on the sovereign nation of Iran."

    False premise.

So to answer the original question, you aren't in favor of it, but you keep the option on the table too?

Of course. Never tell your enemies what you will or will not do unless you mean it. Uncertainty is a powerful deterrent in it's own right.

I am in agreement with what they really said, and not what the OP said they said.

That works both ways. Convince your enemies that you've lost your mind just enough that you would consider nuking them, then your enemies may get a bit bolder as they begin to believe that you're mad and they're in a corner. Indicate to the world that you're mad enough to nuke folks that don't do what you say and those nations that aren't your enemies today may get a bit more bold as well. Perhaps then, an actual threat such as Russia or China gets nervous enough to decide they need to get into the preemptive nuclear war game.

There are an estimated 1.3 million human beings, created in the likeness and image of God, residing in the city of Mecca.
