I have been inspired reading about some evangelists from another century. Amazed by their boldness in open air preaching and confronting satan's servants. This has inspired me to be more bold and or to confront some of the false churches in the area and primarily ones that pretend to be orthodox but are full of savage wolves. United Methodist, WOF, Unitarian, and New Age churches. I would pass out flyers near the church and open air against it. I won't be mean not break any law.

I will in a way act as some back in SC did to me. I remember a Boston Church of Christ man challenged me and open air preached against me back in SC because I had told him he had another gospel. I remember a New Age teacher passing out flyers warning about me once.

Has anyone tried such a thing and how did it go? No I can't confront all the false teachers but the United Methodist and some of these Unitarian churches stir me up.

Yes, the New Great Commission: "Go into all the world and insult people, rile them up, condemn them, show them their error, tell them they are false converts, etc."

Just stick to preaching jesus and the Gospel message, as the Lord will open their hearts/minds thru your efforts, and get them out of those churches!

As you seem to be caught between evangelism and aplogetics, and there is boldness to much of evangelism, but need to reason from the scriptures in apolgetics!

So you suggest I wait till they come to me as I have done in the past? Yeah some Christians protest homosexuals, abortion clinics yet completely ignore the false churches.

Steven in Acts 7:51 got quite confrontational with the false teachers but he waited till they came to him.

    Acts 7:51 NIV

Also read what Peter said to Annias. "How is it that Satan has filled your heart?" What a confrontational thing to say.

Stephen's message was specifically directed at the Jews. Are you going to go out and exhort Gentiles that their ears are uncircumcised, just like the ancient Israelites?

That is church discipline, not evangelism being done. BTW, if you are going to go and yell this at people, good luck with your preaching.

    Hey brother.

I volunteered to help my church this weekend however I know there will be differences of view on evangelism so I will help as little as possible and venture out on my own after. They will look at results and what works and will use gimmicks to get people's attention and sales tactics in evangelism. I don't want to be rude but they won't bend their way of doing evangelism and I won't bent mine it's that simple.

Talking with a brother at the Calvinist church we are far more like minded. He told me just preach the bold message and God will bring the converts. No gimmicks or sales tactics but nothing but the cross.

I doubt you'll have any success and I'm not convinces you have a biblical warrant to do so. Paul preached the gospel in the open-air, not directly against any false system. His combating false religions and particularly false gospels was in the context of letters to local churches where he had a measure of authority, not preaching outside their gathering place.

That said, I understand your desire. I have often thought about open air preaching or protesting in some fashion, in front of the local UU in B-more. I haven't due to the reasons listed above.

It may be possible some evangelists of the past were wrong yet God still used them.

Yes. And It may be possible God would grant me wings during the night, but I still plan on driving to work each morning. Just because God can use something doesn't mean it's necessarily right to seek it out. JMHO.

Out of curiosity, what evangelist are you reading about?

Who "attacked" who first? Did the church attack Annias, or did Annias wrong the church?

You've got to look at context and motivation, John. Don't keep going off half-cocked.

Why don't you refute what I said instead of deflecting the issue?

Also remember that revolution will not happen unless someone speaks up. What I may do may not be biblical but it may not be unbiblical neither. Obviously anyone whom attends such a church i will attempt to reason with via conversation and flyers. Obviously I would make my flyer as objective and factual based as possible with no personal attacks.

Just think about it. What of William booth whom sometimes did open air preaching to drunks and bars at night and what if he did not do that? Who would have reached the drunks? It also may be possible that none of the cult followers would ever go to DT Denver to run into me. Who is gonna reach them? Perhaps I should do this, but keep it as objective and law abiding as possible.

You sure talk a lot about all these books you read. Let me suggest one you have not read. The Bible!

You have truckloads of law I am guessing!
