It looks like they have removed the video of the rapper from the site that is referred to by the author of the article. I can't make a specific comment about this particular rapper or the things he said. The article itself did not make mention of anything specifically said by the rapper, but seemed just to have more of a problem with the genre than anything else. It again seems to be dealing with preference of style rather than content. I would have liked to hear what the rapper said in order to make an evaluation.

Without the video, it's hard to say. Knowing the way that some feel about the rap style in general... he was already over the line simply by "being." Add to that his "purpose-driven"ness (or whatever buzzword is popular this week) and you have a real problem.

    Geez... :praying:

Some people have no end of things to complain about.

Yeah I'd like to see it too, if it caused the author of the article to "weep for what has happened to the American church."

Personally, in the last month, I've done my share of crying and weeping. And it's caused me to see how pointless this discussion can really be at times.

When a rapper uses lyrics such as,
and receives applause from the church it is a sad day indeed

    Joke?

Yeah, it was joke alright. A BAD JOKE, just like that Rick Warren preaches! I wish someone would [inappropriate comments edited] expose him, so he'll quit pushing his user friendly Jesus on the Church today.

Well, I was finally able to view the video just now. There is a quote from the movie "Just Like Heaven" that is very appropriate of how I felt after viewing it... "I just threw up in my mouth."

What a bunch of blasphemous junk. Call me a legalist if you must but I cannot believe that there are Christians that think this is actually entertaining!

Isn't that a bit harsh to speak of a pastor in that manner? I know you disagree with a bunch of his stuff, but there are people coming to Christ through his ministry.

Wishing someone to "uncover dirt" on a man of God you call "fool" goes too far, IMO.

The Apostle Paul wrote in Galatians 1 'If any man or an angel from heaven bring you any other Gospel than that we have preached, let him be accursed.'

Man was brought under a curse when sin entered into the world. To be 'accursed' is to go beyond the curse of sin to the point of being beyond even Christ's help for salvation.

Many things being looked upon by many pastors of megachurches are 'another gospel.' They are allowing filth such as is in the Smitty video to be shown to their members in order to appease them.

The people are fullfilling prophecy which says that 'in the last days people will heap up unto themselves teachers, having itching ears.' Pastors who will water down the Word of God and not take a stand against sin, nor preach against sin for fear of losing a member are, IMO, across the line of 'another gospel.'

Rick Warren's Saddleback Community is showing a sign of a unity church that is doing whatever it can to bring people into its web. They boast of numbers. They will baptize people who are living together in sin outside of matrimonial wedlock, yet will not let them become members of the church.

I do not argue for these people to be allowed to be members of the church if they indeed are lining in sin, but I also cannot advocate them being baptized at this time either.

The Word of God tells us we are baptized into one body. Rick Warren is deceiving many by allowing them to be baptized while living an adulterous life.

Yes, sad to say, Rick Warren is presenting 'another gospel.'

One can get beyond Christ help for salvation?

This is a song by the way. He is nor preaching the Gospel. Many songs are not Biblically sound.

On the other hand, it better be a joke or he needs to get e new job cuz he'll go broke as a rapper.

    (sigh)

I still can't watch because I haven't upgraded to the latest Quicktime... sorry to be "so last Tuesday!"

If those are his lyrics, then yes, I would have issue with his lyrics in a "worship service" atmosphere. I don't really like rap, but that's not what this is about, either. I won't question his ministry, but I know it probably wouldn't fly here. Without question, and definitely not in a worship service.

But I still think too many people have too much to complain about. Was this guy at your church parking lot rapping? No. Get over it.

Didn't Jesus warn against calling someone a "fool"

I think you went a wee bit over the line here... I understand you don't like RW, but I know the PDL really blessed the church I was youth pastor in. And it was a wonderful, Christ centered church...

As for the video, I am still trying to watch it, but I have a feeling, it will make me sick too!

I can't watch it... It won't work on my puter, but thats ok, I really dont want to... It would be trash anyway if those are the lyrics.

I'm with Joshua... There are too many "real" things to be concerned with.

OK... I watched it. It was written to be funny. Several "inside jokes" among the PD crowd, such as references to RW and Saddleback's worship leader Rick Muchow. While I still say it would have no place in a worship service... a conference is a different atmosphere.

I don't see it much different than "Baby Got Book," which I thought was funny too.

Sorry, but in the words of the OP article's author, "I weep" for the direction of the American church... but not for the same reasons. We have become so internal that we spend our time bickering and arguing over stupidity like this, rather than getting encouraged and excited about serving our churches, winning the lost, and evangelizing our communities.

For something to really weep over, go to this link http://www.youthconferencehammond.com/# and watch the video It is a video that was shown in Hammond Ind. at the youth conference.... It is a worship video for Jack Hyles and Schaap. It made me sick to think that youth were taught that they should worship Jack... and IFBs have problems with RW?

Toward the end of the video Schaap says that the church there was built on the God man, and then a picture of Jack Hyles appears, and Schaap says some great things about Hyles... That made me want to barf!!!!
