Ray Comfort to debate atheists

In the article, the so-called athiests contradict their beliefs. They claim there is no God, yet they want people to deny the Holy Spirit and damn their souls to hell.

If they did not believe there was a God, why demand that stipulation?

See, even the so-called athiests know there is a God, they just refuse to acknowledge Him as their God.

 

No doubt. Comfort is a nincompoop!

 

They do it as a joke to publicize a movie. That doesn't mean they are believers in God. Kind of like saying, "If there is a God, may he strike me dead." Or, as Geo. Carlin said, "If there is a God, may he strike this audience dead."

That was low. If you are a believer, he is your brother in Christ. You talk about your physical family in that manner?

 

I have heard of Comfort but don't know much about him. What is wrong with him?

Now for the remarks calling Ray Comfort a nincompoop and a fool, well to be honest, I think those remarks are uncalled for and unChrist-like. Comfort's ministry has been used by the Lord to lead people to Christ, lead believers to be more bold in witnessing, and Comfort's ministry has produced some of the best witnessing resources I have seen in a long time. Ray Comfort's book "Hell's Best Kept Secret" is something every Christian should read (along w/ John MacArthur's "Gospel According To Jesus" and "Gospel According To The Apostles"). I am not saying that I agree with everything Comfort says, I don't, but I do believe that calling him a "fool" and a "nincompoop" is uncalled for.

This thread reminds me of a preacher I know who was constantly criticised by a man leaving the meetings each night. Finally my friend asked him, "Sir, do you preach at all?" "No I don't," came the reply. "Well then," my friend said, "I like the way I do it better than the way you don't!"

I am glad brother Comfort is prepared to challenge atheism, I daresay that many of those who are sniping at him here, calling him an idiot and a fool, are unlikely to have had the opportunity to publicly debate atheism, and even if they did I wonder if they would accept such. It's easy to sit on the side lines, casting snide remarks at those who are trying to win souls, and do spiritual battle. Those of you who profess Christ (and actually possess Him) might do better to bring your concerns about Ray Comfort's part in this debate before God's throne of grace, than slinging mud at a fellow soldier of Christ in this public forum. Shame on you.

 

I'd debate an athiest in a heartbeat.

I will never debate the existence of God with anyone.

That's a fool's errand.

I will debate Scriptures with anyone, I will debate science with anyone (especially atheists), and I will show the errors of their presuppositions.

I will expose the folly of the AiG types every chance I get.

There are many, many things that I will debate concerning things of God.

But, I will never, under any circumstance, directly debate the existence of God.
