Time for Paul and Gingrich to step out, or we'll end up with a white Obama clone for the Republican candidate.

Aaron, I have liked your logic on the interaction between politics, government, and Scripture since joining the board several years ago. This is the worst set up for a Republican candidate of quality in American history. Since Reagan left office in 1989, we have had an ever increasing worse candidate. From liberal Bush the First, to Dole (best of the lot), to Bush the Second who left this nation in shambles morally and economically, to the bottom of the barrel McCain. Romney transcends all of these. He is not only a liar as evidenced by his positions today compared to his record in Mass (especially in health care, gay rights, abortion, and gun control) to being very anti Christian in the way he views Christ. Romney is the perfect evil candidate. Aside from not caring about the Constitution, he does not care one way or the other about moral issues. For example, on the issue of abortion, he does not care about the destiny of the child in question, he cares about what he says gaining him another vote. He will exchange the blood of children for winning an election.

While I do not think Santorum is the best, he is in the acceptable range. He does not strike me as totally evil. He has made some mistakes, but who hasn't? At least he acknowledges the Constitution. He at least sounds like he despises abortion. He also believes Jesus Christ is the Son of God, even though our denominations to not agree on many doctrines.

I appreciate your posts. It is beyond me how a Christian, especially ones who follow current events as much as those who post on this board regularly, talk as much about Obama as they have in the last four years, and turn right around and vote for Romney, who is at least as bad as Obama.

Maybe the Lord will have mercy on us and allow Santorum to win, or raise up a third party ticket strong enough to win. Or, it could be that the choice of Romney or Obama is our judgement as a nation, and all the consequences that go with that decision.

Wait until our potential choices include an Islamic believer...

Oh wait, my bad... We've already elected him! :wavey:

You either believe Christ is the Son of God or you do not. There are not subcatagories. No one here is arguing to vote for Obama, but why would a Christian lower themselves to voting for the same package in different wrapping paper?

They are not the same package. Have to stop bowing to the national media on that point. That IS Romney's meme in this election and so far it is working very well. He is trying to convince those who would potentially support Obama that he is just a bit more reasoned and business oriented than their failed leader and we are HELPING him accomplish that by not recognizing what he -- with the help of the media -- is doing.

In fact, the media, who are predominatly liberal in orientation, DO wish that Romney would run against Obama, for they know that his DIFFERENCES will cause him to loose the election. He is a WEAK candidate. He has a religious perspective that will NOT energize the base to support him. He is un-electable and they know it. But he is NOT the same as the President!

Here is how Obama and Romney are the same:
    they are both anti-Constititional
    they are both pro abortion
they are both pro gay rights
they are both pro gun control
they are both for the nationalization of health care, government interference
they are both backed by large corporations, and lobbyists representing interests that are not of the people
they are both for expanded government

I could go on and on. Besides all of that, Romney believes that Jesus Christ is not the Son of God or the Savior as the only way to heaven. That is just what our nation needs, another unChristian President.

I have no intention on voting for either. My hope lies in the common sense of the voters during the rest of the primaries to nominate Santorum or a person as of yet unannounced. Short of that, I hope for a strong third party ticket. Either way, I will not, under any circumstance, vote for Romney or Obama.
