Even if this poll is accurate, it won't last.

Rated 0% by NARAL, indicating a pro-life voting record.

Paul scores 0% by NARAL on pro-choice voting record

For over thirty years, NARAL Pro-Choice America has been the political arm of the pro-choice movement and a strong advocate of reproductive freedom and choice. NARAL Pro-Choice America's mission is to protect and preserve the right to choose while promoting policies and programs that improve women's health and make abortion less necessary. NARAL Pro-Choice America works to educate Americans and officeholders about reproductive rights and health issues and elect pro-choice candidates at all levels of government. The NARAL ratings are based on the votes the organization considered most important; the numbers reflect the percentage of time the representative voted the organization's preferred position.

Voted NO on allowing human embryonic stem cell research.

To provide for human embryonic stem cell research. A YES vote would:
    • Call for stem cells to be taken from human embryos that were donated from in vitro fertilization clinics
    • Require that before the embryos are donated, that it be established that they were created for fertility treatment and in excess of clinical need and otherwise would be discarded
    • Stipulate that those donating the embryos give written consent and do not receive any compensation for the donation.

What you cut out, Ken, was my remark that Paul wants to allow individual states to abort the unborn child if they so vote. That would leave abortion legal in states such as Vermont perhaps. At any rate, Paul is wrong to think that the federal government cannot protect life as the GOP platform says. This was established on July 4, 1776, Ken.

Ron Paul must not even poll one percent nationally. His best chance is to try for both the Libertarian Party nomination and the Constitution Party nomination, or perhaps his hope is to merge those two parties.

Look for Ron Paul to leave the GOP over a state's right to abort, a state's right to marry same-sex persons or multiple-sex groups, and an opposition to GOP foreign policy.

That will not happen. In fact, if he does run for president he will still maintain his candidacy for re-election to the House(as Texas law allows him to do so) - as a Republican.

Ron Paul is a good example of the failure of Ron Reagan to eliminate the Libertarian Party, although a lot of members of the Libertarian Party might have voted for Ron Reagan because of Reagan's mentioning how far to the left some of the members of the Libertarian Party are.

One issue where the Libertarian Party clearly disagrees with the Republican Party is right to life, as the GOP believes that since July 4, 1776, the governtment has the duty to protect the God-given right to life. Libertarian Party members like Ron Paul believe that state's rights allows the individual state to abort, or to murder, the unborn child.

States usually don't abort - people do.

Ron Paul's position is to undo Roe v. Wade and return to the situation that existed on the abortion issue prior to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in 1973.

In practical terms, their positions on right to life are pretty much identical. The Libertarian Party hasn't been in power to do anything about it and the Republicans haven't done anything about it while in power.

Well, cmg, you don't like Ron Paul's position on abortion and neither does the National Abortion Rights Action League.

    That's says a lot.

And that is exactly where Paul is outside of the mainstream of the GOP

Exactly, and this allows states, under state's rights, to legalize abortion, or murder of the unborn child.

The GOP platform says that the federal government since July 4, 1776, has the duty to protect the God-given right to life.

I agree. That is why I support Ron Paul's position that Roe v. Wade should be overturned.

Yes, but Ron Paul, as you have pointed out, does not endorse the GOP platform on life, which calls for federal action. He is the same way on same-sex marriage, and I understand that he stands for the abolition of the death penalty, contrary to Christian teaching which calls for the execution of murderers.

Ron Paul should seek the nomination of the Libertarian Party and/or the Constitution Party, as he is outside of the GOP mainstream, a total unknown, and has no money and no polling data. He also repudiates Bush, which is contrary to the GOP mainstream.

I like Ron Paul's position on ending the war in Iraq

I like Ron Pauls posistion on ending the war in Iraq...he is spot on and if he does not get the nomination he should climb the ladder as being one of the top three....thus bring Iraq to the forefront and making it an issue.

Which it should...it is one of the worst blunders in our history...based on deception. Based on feeding billions to bush cronies and keeping the spigot of billions flowing to them....160,000 in iraq as contractors and highly paid mercenaries(even so God protect individuals) while soldiers are treated with low pay in comparison and terrible medical conditions coming home.

We should never have occupied we should have swept them all up ..syria, Iran....and Iraq when we had the chance but this is what is criminal ..bush culture never intended to do that ...they needed to make money for their cronies....I think imho it will get him impeached.

At the very least Ron Paul will impact the nomination and hopefully he will still be standing on the debate stage at the very end. imho

IRAQ IS THE NUMBER ONE ISSUE AND IT SHOULD BE

Ron Paul hardly needs your advice, cmg. How many times have you been elected to the House of Representatives as a Republican? Zero.

Overturning Roe v. Wade will require federal action. Ron Paul supports overturning Roe v. Wade. Therefore, you are wrong, cmg. Ron Paul supports federal action.

Ken, you missed the point. By federal action, the GOP platform, which I quoted before, calls for not allowing any state to abort, or to murder, unborn children. When Paul--and it is surprising that he is a Republican--says that states rights allows a state to abort, he is against the GOP platform, which states:

    Promoting a Culture of Life

As a country, we must keep our pledge to the first guarantee of the Declaration of Independence. That is why we say the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and we endorse legislation to make it clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children. Our purpose is to have legislative and judicial protection of that right against those who perform abortions. We oppose using public revenues for abortion and will not fund organizations which advocate it. We support the appointment of judges who respect traditional family values and the sanctity of innocent human life.

    http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/showplatforms.php?platindex=R2004

You cannot, Ken, parse your way out of the fact that the GOP does not support Paul on abortion as being a states right. The GOP clearly says that the right to life is a god-given right as pointed out in the founding documents of this nation. Furthermore, the GOP calls for action that Paul opposes when they say, "We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and we endorse legislation to make it clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children."

Paul has the same stance on same-sex marriage--states rights allows it--and he departs from orthodox Christianity by refusing to support the death penalty for murderers.

I have not misrepresented Paul's position on states rights as allowing abortion and same-sex marriage and I have pointed out how the GOP is against both of those items. The GOP also supports the orthodox Christian doctrine that murderers should be put to death.

There's hardly anything orthodox Christian about the death penalty.

I believe in the separation of marriage and state. Marriage is a church matter. People's living arrangements should be a private matter and of no concern to the government.

Ron Paul, way outside of the mainstream.

Ron Paul, way outside of the mainstream, calls for the abolition of the death penalty. This is even contrary to orthodox Christian doctrine. Murderers should be executed.

Genesis 9:6 (KJV) Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

Romans 13:4 (KJV) For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to [execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Sounds right in line with the bill that Ron Paul introduced in the House:
