I've said my piece, and I'd like to see some further responses.

My only point is that, in the same way it would be difficult to witness to racial minorities if one were given to repeating racial slurs about those minorities, and further serves to paint all Christians with a broad brush, referring to homosexuals as "queer" serves to close doors to evangelism to that community. Showing sensitivity is not the same thing as condoning behavior.

The Bible talks about all peoples (ethnos)coming to Jesus... Not all sexual orientations, party animals and perversions...

Some of us may be 'harsh' (in your view) but at least we allow that they can find Christ...

We are also told to make disciples, not merely converts...

So, in our evangelism, would it be right to let someone think they can continue in sin after they accept the Christian Message?

Granted, I don't like Bible Bangers on Street Corners Screaming at me...

And, face to face I am not an 'in yer face' kinda guy...

But, one would think that on a Baptist Forum, at least, a strong and intractible stance against the homosexual lifestyle and agenda would be acceptable?

No one is arguing against a strong stance against homosexuality. And no one, least of all I, would dare to tell a gay person, or a gossiper, or a liar, or an adulterer, that they can continue to sin after they accept the Christian message (I do not, by the way, think one must stop sinning before coming to Christ, and trust that it is the Holy Spirit's job to convict and reform, not mine).

Let's talk about what I've posted, not what I haven't, shall we?

    I think I've lost track...

What was the topic again? [IMG]

And, yes, "Just as I am" works for me too.

If you are addressing these comments to me, let me plainly state, I am as much against the homosexual deathstyle as you are. Howerver, I do not call the City Corinth-by-the-Bay for nothing. What Paul and First Baptist of Corinth ;) had to deal, we have to deal with in our ministry here in the City. These are just some comments from The Front as it were.

The problem with the term homophobe is that it is much more broadly used than what tp describes. One is accused of a homophobe like these concert goers were just for standing against it on moral, biblical grounds.

I didn't see anything in the opening article that said something that was hateful or should have been a cause for protest... much less an elected official attempting to suppress free speech.

Here in San Francisco, the folks who toss the word homophobe at every Christian that moves are aptly described in Romans 1:32.

One quote I gleaned from the local paper is
The <. . .> added by me. As for the elected officials, they know where the votes and money come from.

Is homosexuality more deadly than any other sin?

Again, not adocating it, just trying to understand why so many are against this sin, but no one protests gossip...

And, yes "homophobia" is a buzzword, but why give the accusations validity by the words we use?

Deathstyle used as a contrast to the commonly used term life style. The big lie is homosexuality is an alternative lifestyle. San Francisco has spent too much money and buried too many people for it to be just anotherlifestyle.

Assuming everyone has had a chance to post what they wanted to post on this thread, the "age of grace" is over and it is now closed. ;)
