Sanctification

What does the word sanctification mean to you? To me it is basically another term for purity. It means to make ones self holy or separate from sinfullness. Thoughts?

i dont know the biblical definition...

but i do know that we can't make ourselves holy or separate from sinfulness. only by the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

which im sure that's what you meant... just wanted to clarify that.
