I just had this drawn to my attention, but why does the NKJV have a triquetra on the front?

I am sure this has been discussed, but like I said, I would like to to know why it is on the front, or why you believe it was put on the front.

Another thing, why do Satanic followers, new agers and so forth identify the symbolism used, but Christians can't see it, ignore it, or completely don't care.

Another point, why was the Pope buried in a trapezoid coffin of all things?

Free Mansonry, why do I see so many men in church proudly wearing the ring telling those around them that they are Free Masons?

Christians have used pagan signs and re-signify its significance. This tipical Celtic art decoration became associated with the Trinity in Christian circles. Just like the legend goes, that St. Patrick used the clover to explain the Trinity to pagans in Ireland. Fish are also a traditional Christian sign however it was also used by pagans to reflect Pisces.

I thought the fish was used in underground churches when Christians were being persecuted. They would draw half and the other person the other half to recognize their faith or acknowledge it. Where did I hear that?

But why? Why use pagan symbols and mix them with Christianity. It doesn't make sense to my little ignorant mind. With Witchcraft and New Age being made more and more popular through TV series, books, and movies; where the youth of today see them, the New Age is in pop culture, then they see the same symbols with in Christianity (ie on the cover of a bible), why? That doesn't make sense, especially considering most of the symbols used, were first used by pagans and borrowed by other groups from there on.

That which was once used by Satan and intended for evil has now been made good.

Triquetras are by no means exclusively pagan. From the start of the medieval era, and well into the federalist period of the 1700's, it was a recognized symbol denoting the Trinity, similar to the manner the ichthus represents Christianity.

In fact, if you visit Trinity Church in New York (established 1696) you will see the triquetra motif represented in the architecture.

From what I have read or seen thus far, it dates further back than these you mentioned.

As I said here many times, neither my nor my husbands nkjv has this on it. So who ever is pointing this out to you in incorrect, possibly some have it depending on the publisher, but ours do not.

This particular design can be seen in Odin worship but like I said the significance has been changed. The thing about human beings is that symbolism plays and important role in understanding things. In an age where most were illerterate symbols were like writen language to many. Its easy to see how an particular symbol would be hijacked by another and used to explain another consept. Symbols in of themselves mean nothing. We make to much of them. A tree is a tree. Yet it can represent the tree of life in the garden, it can represent the Yggdrasil in Norse Mythology or the world tree. Etc....

When the NKJV first appeared, I remember folks making a big deal about the triquetra. You know, some Christians need some conspiracy theory and so they find them wherever they look.

Why did we name the days of the week after false gods?

    Monday - Moon Day
    Tuesday - Zeus Day
    Wednesday - Woden's Day
    Thursday - Thor's Day
    Friday - Fridda's Day
    Saturday - Saturn's Day
    Sunday - Sun Day

There is such a thing as social/cultural evolution, socially and culturally we "evolved" out of Paganism and retain many of its cultural elements.

Even in the Scripture there was a man named "Apollos" after a false god.
He did not change his name after becoming a Christian.

Corinthians 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

It's not a perfect world, we do what we can and what is reasonable to cleanse ourselves at least from the practice of Pagan worship.

While we're at it, let's be sure to abandon the use of Arabic numerals and go back to Roman numerals.

meanings and definations change all the time, we can not simply go by an old defination. Look at the word 'gay', do we use the new defination when we use it, or do we use the old defination? Somethings simply do not mean the samething they once did.

I'm not hankd, but it looks like because the passage contians the name of a false god, and it is not condemned because this christian man had the name of a false god.

I understand what you are saying concerning symbolism, but why would you purposely put it on there. And yes, most of the copies, the only publisher I have found of the NKJV is Thomas Nelson Inc.; they either put it on the cover or inside with the purpose behind it.

But why go out of you way to use it?

Would that not be the same as Hispanics being named Jesus and they aren't really Jesus?

Surely he gave us Biblical resource for a different reason all together, or perhaps he took it completely out of context in order to satisfy an opinion with scripture.
