    Just as a point of interest, the early Welsh Churches, did not seat parishioners by family, male or female, but by voice......Soprano, ALto, Tenor, bass, etc...I won't go into hos they selected the seating, it just happened. They did use hymnals, but no musical instruments.
    Carry on fighting,,I mean discussing........

    Cheers,

    Jim

    This past Sunday is an example of how our screens are used during worship. (Note - even our "contemporary" service may be more traditional than what you have on Sunday mornings.)

    * Preparation for Corporate Worship - worship videos before the service begins
    * Call to Worship (responsive reading from the Psalms)
    * Song of Worship
    * Common Prayer - Confession of Sin
    * Songs of Worship
    * Old Testament reading (responsive reading from Isaiah)
    * Reading of the Gospel (sermon text left on screen during sermon)

    Shucks, I would sack the pastors, deacons and just run the movie projector. Look at the money that would be saved........

    The Hollywood Baptist Movie Church....:laugh:

    y'know Jim, to be such a tolerant guy...

    You sure do make fun of how people worship a lot.

    Maybe folks are worshipping God just a bit differently than you do. Why is that bothersome to you?

    Really don't get it either. We simply place the words to our worship songs on the screens. (In our contemporary service, the hymnals in our pews do not have the worship songs.)

    And we place the Scripture readings up there too, but if it makes you feel better, the readings are in the bulletin as well. Since we have responsive readings during our service, it kind of helps if everyone is using the same translation.

    However, we do have some in our church who feel like Jim & that's OK. That's why we have a more traditional, liturgical service as well and they get to use the hymnals.

    It is OK for him not to like it, and even to tell us so.

    It is not OK for him to ridicule the worship that others are giving to God. I would expect someone of Jim's maturity to get that.
