    Hey People,

Just wanted to let everyone know that I was accepted for graduate study at Campbell Divinity. I'm extremely excited about it! The Lord has truly blessed me. Just felt like sharing that since I had mentioned that I applied. Anyway, God Bless!

Tell us about your choice of schools. Us "normal" (er, northern) type baptists have never even heard of such a place.

Is is Disciples of Christ?

Or run by the soup people?

Or a type of candy? [IMG]

Untangled -- prepare for your theological thought to be tangled in the web of liberalism.

    Hey Dr. Bob,

Campbell is a Baptist Seminary. It is affiliated with the NC State Baptist Convention, and I also believe it has ties to the SBC. They accept people from different denominations though. It is a fully ATS accredited seminary.

They offer two Master's degrees: M.C.E and M.Div. The M.Div. has five different concentrations. My concentration will be in Counseling and Chaplaincy.

    The website is as follows:

I'm just really excited about starting my graduate theological education.

    God Bless!

    In Christ,

    Brooks

    Hey SBC,

Liberalism? Well, I'm definitely not liberal, nor conservative. I'm more in the middle. Anyway, I'm not here to debate. I was just sharing my good news with my brothers in Christ. Just know this, I'm not a liberal and will never be a liberal.

Are you with the SBC? Are you located here in NC?

    Brooks,

Congrats on the acceptance to Cambell Div. A former Youth Minister at our church is hoping to start there this fall as well.

Right now I live about 30 minutes from Campbell, but we are moving up to Virginia next month. If your schedule ever allows, and you play, you have to try out the golf course at Campbell: Keith Hills. It's a beautiful course, and rather inexpensive to play.

Good luck in your studies. I am starting at BTSR this fall, and consider myself a moderate (non-liberal, non-conservative) just like you. Just remember to be guided by the Holy Spirit during your studies and seek God's will in all you do.

    Peace,
    James

    Hey Brother James,

Glad to hear that you are also going to seminary. BTSR is a good school from what I understand. I actually looked at it too. I just needed something closer to home. Anyway, I appreciate your post. May God Bless you and keep you.

    In CHrist,

    Brooks

Famous last words of those who end up sliding rapidly down the slope. If you follow the norm, you will move to the left in your studies (under profs who are most likely to the left of you). End result: libs calling themselves mods.

Thought my user name might give me away [IMG]

For 14 years but God has moved us.

But I sure do miss Tarheel basketball :(

BTW, the golf course at Campbell is nice. Rest assured we conservatives can take advantage of a nice, cheap golf course. But for some reason, whenever I played there my drives seemed to veer to the left :D

    Hey SBC,

Just wondering, why do you think Campbell is so liberal? I'm still your brother in Christ. Why so harsh about Campbell??

Campbell is CBF, not SBC. It receives no SBC monies. It does receive monies from the state convention of NC however.

It's funny how many people I remember starting seminary saying, "I'm not a fundamentalist or a liberal. I'm a moderate." Most of them still called themselves "moderates" three years later as we sat around comfortably discussing the Creation myths in Genesis, the questionability of the virgin birth, the mainstreaming of homosexuality in Christian culture...

I actually became a little more conservative in seminary. [IMG]

I know alot of the faculty and staff there at Campbell, and I knew alot of students who went there when I lived in Raleigh, but my big concern with the school was that it seemed only to cater to North Carolina Baptists.

Northern (ifb) seminaries are very conservative and I find most men who attend there adopt the most conservative positions. They move to the "right" on the spectrum.

Not the lunatic fringe positions that give ifb'ers a bad name, but truly theologically conservative.

Think the more a person understands God and His Word, the more conservative he becomes. Still wondering about Joshua . . . [IMG]

    Hey Dr. Bob,

I always used to think that the farther south a seminary is, the more conservative it would be. But I'm knew to seminary, so what do I know? :(

Just wondering, what do you think a liberal is??

    In Christ,

    Brooks
