...In 2002, after Republicans made historic mid-term gains in the United States House of Representatives and Senate — only the third such time since the turn of the 20th century — the Times lamented the win and demanded restraint in Washington.

In fact, while the Times editorial board now demands the Democrats “press their political advantage” because “[their] message … has widespread support, and they have increased their numbers in both houses of Congress,” they used their same editorials after major wins by Republicans in 2002 and 2004, to urge consensus and cautioned Republican majorities against overreach.

Then the Times' editorial board wanted Republicans to restrain their power because the nation was divided. Now, with a divided Congress and Republican gains at the state level, the Times’ editorial board insists “power needs to be used.” Americans must never accuse the New York Times editorial board of intellectual honesty.

    Interesting article. Thanks for posting.

    Observation FWIW:

Obama's deadline on "fundamentally changing" this country is November 2016 when he becomes a "lame duck". He had to practice some restraint prior to November 2012 to ensure he had 4 more years to complete the process.

Perhaps, we should applaud every action taken by Democrats while they are still celebrating their White House victory last fall.
"Yeah! We got 4 mo years, lets get busy quick"

Ban dem guns. Give carrots to illegals. Cripple private industry. Gag preachers with "hate speech" law. Hug more trees and spotted owls. Deny life extending care to non-productive Grandma's. Kill fossil fuel production within our borders. Give mo free phones. Moderate those free speech nuts on the the Internet and radio. Lower the definition of "rich". And, above all make sure everyone understands it's a must to protect the little children and to build roads and bridges.

Encourage them, in every way we can for the next few months, to forget there's a 2014 election for every level of government excluding the White House and the Supreme Court. Unless it's God's will that this nation is to be brought to its knees, perhaps enough Democrats will forget 2014 in their bid to exercise their "power". Just enough to wake up a few more percentage points in this equally divided nation. Less than 2% put Obama into the White House. Perhaps the same percentage can derail the liberal train before it reaches the transformed station.

May God have mercy on this nation.

Good post. From reading about BHO, I don't believe he was raised with the same understanding of the USA as so many of us. He does have heavy socialistic leaning if not worse. You know always look to the government for your answers.
From his church he attended for all those years with it revolutionary theology and so many from the communist view as friends or learning so much from them.
I think the ones of us who read his remarks and I believe it was two books I read, he seems to be doing about what he pointed out in his writings. Just so many agree with him and many don't care.
