We all know that the USA is gradually being inundated by satanists, occultic games, satanic rock music, Wicca, Ouija boards, drugs--which are really "doorways" to demonic possession. As Christians, shouldn't we know how to, and be ready to, face the devil and cast out demons out of the demon-possessed at a moment's notice?

(Let's say a neighbor who knows you're a Christian calls you to help because someone in the neighborhood is shouting profanities, vomiting, and levitating five feet from the ground)

I'm from the Philippines, where ritual magic and witchcraft, is quite common, and where possessions are a reality. My observation is that "spiritual warfare" is mostly the monopoly of pentecostal christians, and most baptists haven't got the slightest clue--IBF and the Fundamental Baptists, not the CBA types.

    Just wondering...

I'm not sure. I want to say yes, but then we have to remember that God is Sovereign and when someone gets saved the evil spirits will come out on their own. Or won't they? I don't know...I'm confused...

The disciples were not able to cast out demons as recorded in Matthew 17. Jesus told them they lacked faith to case them out.

I think all Christians should be ready to cas out demons, but only the strongest of Christians should attempt it.

My observation is that most 'believers' that claim to have the power of "spiritual warfare" are very close to being controlled by demonism.

Pentecostal Christians that delve into spiritism are often controlled by their fascination of the occult.

Should we be ready to confront demonism? Yes, should I ever be so STUPID as to seek it? NO.

SEEK AND YE SHALL FIND, while this is NOT THE INTENDED CONTEXT, I have witnessed GROUPS of believers as they were twisted by their search for demonism. Eventually they found a different Gospel.

As Paul said, I would consider them ACCURSED.

Where are the Scriptures which instruct us precisely how to cast out demons.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (Romans 1:16).

I don't know that there is a precise method for doing this. It is the Object of our faith that has the power to do this. Read the book of Acts and see how most of the Apostles did this. It was mostly to the affect of "in the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out."

I don't know that we should be searching for fights with demons, but if I should happen to come across a possessed individual, I would probably bluntly command something like the above and have faith that the demon has to obey. I would try to quote as much Scripture as possible.

I think we should be willing to do anything that God puts in our path to be done . I do not think we should go hunting such things.

I believe you must be a very strong Christian and firmly entrench in the Word.! You had better know what you are doing, are you could get hurt!!!. I saw last night a man on TV selling his books and tapes on how to cast out demons, he even had a tape that gave the name of demons, I think this is a very dangerous and money grubbing thing for him to do. I my self would not talk to a demon other then to quote scripture. I would pray very hard and fervently to JESUS to handle the situation!!

Jesus made casing out demons simple........some religions made it complicated. (My daughter just seen the movie about Emily Rose and I heard some about it on TV). In Matthew 17:14-21 Jesus laid it out easy enough.
And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, 15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. 16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. 17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. 18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. 19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? 20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Pray and fast, pray and have faith, then PRAY and rebuke it. The bible don't say nothing about holy water, making them walk upstairs backward, or punching them in the stomach or starving them to death....ect. BTW..... if I acually seen someone levitating I might have to check if there are no strings attached first. :D

    Dear Brethren,

But if you were faced with an opportunity or confronted with one, would you "in the name of Jesus I rebuke thee!" or would you rather not cross paths?

Of course remember, "Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world."

    Hello, Folks.

I'm new to the forum, so as we say in Japan when we meet someone--"Yoroshiku," meaning, "Be nice to me!" [IMG]

I've seen wisdom in all of your replies, possibly unusual in a forum such as this. May I add my two yen?

I urge that if you ever run across a demon-possessed person it is an excellent chance to reach people for Christ. Whether or not you cast out the demon (and I can't add much to what you've said already), you may be able to win the person's family and friends to the Lord, since they will truly be hurting.

True story from Japan--I was at a church and saw a 16-year-old boy, who was with his father, acting very strangely. The missionary-pastor later told me the boy was demon possessed. He had started out with demons in role-playing games and graduated to messing around with the occult. Several pastors tried to cast the demon out, but the boy was not willing and that is crucial in such cases.

In a later incident at the missionary's home the boy became just like the demoniacs in the Bible, stripping himself naked and becoming violent with unusual strength. It took the missionary, who is a huge man (think Sumo wrestler here!), and a couple of other men to subdue him. The ambulance came and took him to the mental ward of the hospital, where they doped him up to calm him down.

To the best of my knowledge, the boy is still in the hospital, but the parents got saved through all of this and became faithful church members. Praise the Lord for what He can do, even in a gospel hardened country like Japan!

    God bless.

Here's a question. Do you cast the demon out before they can be saved or do they have to be saved before the demon can be cast out?

Welcome to the BB John of Japan.

Well, I guess we're under a little assault already. From my end, at the topmost portion of the page, I could see ads which say "Easy Love Spells" and "The Power of Voodoo."

    Hmmm.

No, according to the passage in Matthew 17:14-21 Jesus rubuked the devil and cast out the demon/s out of the guy. But! after the person is set free from the demon/s it would be a good thing to talk to them about salvation b/c in Matt.12:43-45 it says.........
    Matt.12
43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

This also gives the hint that you'd offer salvation once the demon is cast out.

ROBERTGUWAPO~ I don't see no assaults? At the top most part of the page I see a add for "Student Life Bible Study" [IMG] BTW, very interesting topic.

Music4Him--Perhaps if you go to page 1, you would see 2 occultic ads. At least, I see them from where I am--Manila, Philippines.

    LOL I see them too.

Hi Music, thanks for your example. I don't know if that means it is always the case. Jesus just chose to do it that way that time. I actually think it could be either/or first. God is big enough to work through both ways.

Well ok now I see ads for 2 things.... one is "Disturbing Horoscopes" It says :Warning very freaky scary! The other next to it says "Bible Study "Armageddon". I think someone made a comment about the ads doing that in the past and one of the moderators said the ads change. Must be the post time thing? LOL

Thank you King James I'll take your post to me as a compliment......I think? [IMG] But, I do agree with you when you said: God is big enough to work through both ways. ~Amen!
