I don't know about Baptists marrying only Baptists, but I do know a couple right now that's struggling because one is Baptist and the other is Catholic. The Catholic one tried to "convert" but is still way too Catholic to want to be in a Baptist church.

The best time to figure all this stuff out is BEFORE you get married.

And everyone knows that the "proper" truck is a 1992 Chevy S-10 Blazer (and the proper color is white!).

I think baptists should marry nonbaptists!

My wife, a baptist, married a guy who grew up in the Church of Christ, then later attended a Quaker church, then a Methodist church.

He became a baptist about a year later.

Then some time later, that very same guy joined this discussion board and he's called Jkdbuck76.

and that's what i get for jumping in 20-some posts later with the title of the thread as the only info.
    sorry for sounding so irrelevant.

The two most common factors that lead to divorce are:
    1. a difference in religion, and
    2. argument over finances.

I'd add in 2 more - although one is still based on the other:

    a. infidelity
    b. selfishness

I can only speak for my myself through personal experience. Is it okay? Sure, I suppose so. Is it advisable? No. When a baptist (me) marries a charismatic (ex) there are bound to be more than a few sparks.

What do you mean by religion?

Christians but of different denominations? or something else?

I assume a Christian would never marry a Muslim, so yes I am speaking of different denominations.

I thought that by the mere fact that they are Christians, they are already in agreement.

So, a SB should not marry a IFB, even though they're both Baptists?

You used the word "denomination" not different types of Baptists.
However, in the scenario you just presented it depends on the individuals involved. Would a marriage work out between a SB who holds very liberal views with an IFB who holds ultra-conservative views? I doubt it.
Would it work out if both were conservative in spite of their differing backgrounds. Probably.

When you made reference to the Amos 3 text, I'm sure you were lifting out the principle.

But how should we apply this principle when two SB can have two different views on let's say, Eschatology?
