How about just voting in the poll without all the negativity?

    Sin is never okay.

Sorry if you think this is negativity, but this is what the Bible says...

Why would anyone ever say that sin is okay?
Of course sin is wrong by definition. Sin is the transgression of the law.

I noticed the two references to priests. As far as both Orthodoxy and Catholicism are concerned, sin is always sin. In Catholicism, the claim is that the priest can act as some sort of intermediary for divine forgiveness, but the sin is still sin.

Sin existed even before the Law( Mosaic) was introduced.

    KJV : 1 John 3:

4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

    Darby : 1 John 3

4 Every one that practises sin practises also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.

The Law in KJV should be understood as the broad meaning of it existing since the Creation of the World, otherwise Darby is correct who was mindfull about the selection of the word for Ανομια.

    BTW, Sin is never OKay.

When it comes to the bible, it's very negative regarding sin, so our opinions should be also. Just not accusatory and vengeful.

Sin is OK if it is not sin....

But if it is sin, it is never OK...

    Does that make sense?
My Grandmother thought it was a sin to drink Coca Cola... seriously!

Is it Ok to drink it? Yes.. because she was mistaken.

There are other things, like wearing pants to church, or listening to CCM that people call sin... but it really is not... let the Bible be the Guide, not your priest or pastor.

I voted earlier. I didn't know how to comment on sin without it sounding negative. Sin by it's very nature is negative. It separates us from God! How negative can it get than that?

If a person feels that something is a sin in his/her heart and does it anyway then it is a sin to them. It is not living by faith. No one should flaunt their liberty in form of them and do what another person thinks is sin even thought the other person knows it is not.

Just how do you know WHO out there may think drinking cola is a sin? While I don't think there are many, I know there are people who think eating meat (any kind) is a sin, and wearing shorts, or bare midriffs, or tattoos, or jewelry, or even makeup. These things are the less common among those who think drinking any alcoholic beverage in any amount, displaying symbols like peace signs or stars and moon, or saying "gee" or "gosh," are all sins.

How few things would we ever do if got all buzzered about what somebody might think is a sin?

HP: Can you support such a confusing mix of ideas with Scripture? Does Scripture ever speak of sin not being a sin? Where does it ever say that it is OK to violate your conscience? If one esteems something as sin, are you going to contradict Scripture by stating that it is really not sin and that they are simply mistaken?

It would appear to me that your advice is at direct antipodes with Scripture. ”Ro 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.”

    Is drinking Coke sin?
    No..

I don't care how many Christians decide it is, it is not.
It doesn't violate any law in the Bible.

IF I would say that typing on a keyboard is sin... does it make it sin?
    NO...

But, I will agree with you on this one... if you truly believe drinking Coke, or typing on a keyboard would be sin... don't do it.. but I would also encourage you to read your Bible and grow in faith... because calling something sin without knowing why (biblical principal) is a sign of immaturity...

Too many people call things sin, just because they were raised that way, or some other Christian said it was...

They need to dig into the word, and stay true to what God says...

If God says it is a sin... It is a sin...
If The Bible is silent on it... we should be too...

Sin is always sin.. but just because someone says something is a sin, does not make it a sin... Only God has that power.

    I hope this helps...

Is it a sin to be angry?
Is it a sin to call a brother or sister in Christ unsaved?
Is it sin for one to bad mouth the very board that one is a guest at?
Is it a sin to blatantly break the rules of the board one is a guest at?
Is is a sin to call others names?

    Just wondering?

Sin is never okay, regardless how much one tries to excuse it.

And I do agree to some extent. If a person claims to be saved, but is not living for the Lord, is living contrary to the Word of God, then we can judge by the Word of God that in all probabilities that person is not saved.
