I have never been as moved as I was while watching the Sean Hannity/Donald Trump Townhall in Austin, TX last night! Each of these moms had a compelling story to share, and anyone who thinks we don't have a problem in this country with the illegals flooding our borders need to check themselves into a psychiatric facility to find out if they have a conscience.

They spoke of how each of them suffered an unnecessary death to their child at the hands of an illegal ALIEN who, if our politicians were doing the job, they swore to do, would more than likely be alive today! I know some of you bleeding heart; Left-leaning liberals will try to mock me and say I am without feelings, but the truth is, we need to get a hold of our borders and stop what is happening, and this goes for the flow of refugees, who are not being vetted, before we become over run by lawlessness, anarchy and eventual destruction of a nation that once stood for laws and principles built on doing what is right for those who ARE CITIZENS!

Go ahead folks, share your thoughts! But remember, how you view this problem will determine what kind of a nation we are going to leave for our children and their children! Selah!

We have a problem in this country and it is the gun problem. It is a tragedy beyond imagination for any child to be killed whether the killer is a legal citizen, a legal alien or an illegal alien. Until we fix the gun problem this will continue. Eliminating illegal aliens will not fix the problem. It may reduce the number of killed a tiny fraction, but it does not address the root of the problem.

    From: http://www.bradycampaign.org/key-gun-violence-statistics

Every Day on Average (ages 0-19)
Every day, 48 children and teens are shot in murders, assaults, suicides & suicide attempts, unintentional shootings, and police intervention.

Every day, 7 children and teens die from gun violence:

    • 4 are murdered
    • 2 kill themselves.
Every day, 40 children and teens are shot and survive:

    • 32 shot in an assault
    • 1 survives a suicide attempt
    • 8 are shot unintentionally

Yes, because anyone who would enter the country illegally would obviously obey the law if we banned guns. /Sarcasm.

Typical liberal attempt to deflect and redirect the conversation to a topic that is not even on the board! I knew I'd hear from you brother, I was just wondering what and how you would try to turn this OP around! Selah!

Yet neither he nor others like him are equally moved by black mothers marching that the lives of their son's murdered by police mattered.

Yet folks continue to get upset when they say that Black Lives Matter.

Oops! Again, I do not believe in my heart, that any cop wakes on a given morning and goes to his or her shift thinking that today, "I'll kill me a black man!" If you can prove me wrong on this, than BLM is righteous! Until that day, they are nothing more than a radical, offshoot of Acorn, with the sole purpose or agenda of creating anarchy!

Now that you are back, I'll have to put you back on ignore; as I have not missed your BLM rants and raves!

No-one asked you if that's what you believed. And no-one was talking about that.

I spoke to the fact that you and folks like you seem to only have empathy when it comes to the lives of certain people. Yet you puff your chests out and wonder why they say Black Lives Matter?

Why would I be trying to prove you wrong on something that wasn't being discussed?

Please do as I didn't ask you to respond to my response.

No deflection. Just pointing out the root problem of children being killed with firearms. What percentage of children killed by firearms are killed by illegal aliens versus legal citizens and legal aliens?

CTB, they already know that the majority of folks , child or adult, being killed in this country by firearms aren't being killed by illegal immigrants.

They just have to be in step with the poison being spewed by Trump and his surrogates. And can't being themselves to admit that you're right.

There's an implicit bias and Trump allows a lot of folks to feel comfortable in openly expressing it.

    He has legitimized their fear.

Not sure why that has to be explained.

I am upset when anyone dies, whether righteously killed or not. Black, white, Asian, or other. But, the topic of this thread isn't blacks being killed by police. And whether or not someone gets upset about it non-germane to the topic. It doesn't change the fact that these six mother's had children killed by illegals.

As far as BLM, I think they are wrong. And I'll give them more serious consideration when they stop talking about the implied "too" on the end, yet still getting upset when someone says "All lives matter". They can't try to have it both ways. Either the "too" is there or it isn't. And getting upset at "All lives matter" means there's no "too".

    I didn't comment on you.
Then there was no reason for you to comment to that comment.
And the fact that those 6 mothers had children killed by illegals doesn't negate the fact that thousands of black mothers have had kids killed by police.

Empathy for one but not the other is what I touched on in re the OP and others like him.
White people just can't seem to make up their minds with BLM. First folks were upset because they weren't saying ALL Lives. Now they'll get more serious consideration when they stop talking about the implied inclusion of ALL lives?:Cautious
Nope. Getting upset means that they understand that folks are STILL missing the reason why they said it the way that they did in the first place, which is part of the reason why they didn't initially say BLM Too.

As you well know, my friend, that is an impossible question as there are no statistics of who was murdered without a firearm but in some other way.

However, I would venture to say that a very large majority would still be alive. Can't prove that, but neither can you or anyone disprove it.

I realize that. And I realize that you are always very careful with what you say. But I felt the need to chime in so as to show that your inclusive category didn't apply to everyone.

Actually, there was a very good reason. To allow a non-germane subject to come up, pulling sympathy from one cause to another, diminishes the first cause in the eyes of some. I was making sure that failure to sympathize with one does not negate the actuality of the another. It works both ways.

I was going to go after your use of "thousands", but in the absence of a timeline there's no point. According to most sources, roughly two black men were killed by police each week (justified or not) in 2015 (102 total). So, in ten years there would be 1000, assuming consistent rates, and if you're looking at 20 years or more, your use of "thousands" would be justified.

I know that you're not grouping me in with those that don't show empathy towards the blacks that are killed. But you're detracting from one issue in order to bring a second issue to light, rather than showing issues equally, and thus become guilty yourself of showing empathy to one and not the other.

I know that you understand my point, whether you agree with it or not (obviously, you disagree). But, for the sake of moving forward, my point is that it is impossible to include yourself with everyone while simultaneously excluding everyone else.

(Disclaimer: I'm not trying to offend with this next stream of comments. I'm just trying to make a point.) Do black lives matter? Yes. Do white lives matter? Yes. Do red lives matter? Yes. Do yellow lives matter? Yes. Do brown lives matter? Yes.

It doesn't matter the color of your skin, your life matters. It doesn't matter your social status, your life matters. It doesn't matter where you live, your life matters.

An inclusive "lives matter" would do so much towards reconciling the growing gap between the skin colors. It shouldn't be white versus black, or brown vs white, or any color combination. It should be "us", "we", etc.

In 2013, according to the CDC, all gun deaths (suicide and homicide) amounted to 33,636. The amount of violent deaths (homicide and suicide) where a gun was not used was 24,936. That means that out of 58,572 violent deaths, 57.4% were by firearms, and 42.6% were without firearms.

Last year in psychology I had to write a report on an essay that dealt with guns used for suicide. The essay (if you want more specifics than that, I'll have to dig it out of my stuff), found that males who committed suicide favored firearms, while females favored other means. Their findings decided that males used firearms because failing a suicide attempt in our culture is seen as feminine; that is, it's perfectly acceptable for a female to have committed suicide and failed, while a man who fails suicide is emasculated.

Here's where we go back to the CDC statistics: out of all 33,636 gun deaths, 21,175 (63%) of those were suicide. I can tell you through experience with several near suicides (not me, but others) that those who wish to die will find a way. As soon as a person in the military shows signs of mental health decay (PTSD, bi-polar, suicidal ideations, etc) their commanders and NCOs are given instructions that the person is to not be allowed near weapons. Yet, the numbers for active duty suicides is nearly 48% higher than the civilian average.

The point is, those who are wishing to die will find a way. You take the guns away, and it might help a few who commit suicide on a "spur of the moment" thought. But it won't help those who truly wish to die.

The majority of gun homicides are gang related, according to the CDC. Sounds like we have a gang problem more than a gun problem.

Yeah, who says they were all shot? Understand about trying to get in your PMSNBC talking points, but the reality is anything but:

    http://www.ojjpac.org/memorial.asp

what illegal aliens are bad about is vehicular homicide - like it or not, in their culture, driving while drunk is permissible to the point of being expected. And, no, we shouldn't ban cars in response.
