2 Pet 2:20-22 • A believer who returns to his sins is worse off than he was before.
Rev 2-3 • All 7 churches are warned to repent and be overcomers to be:
given the crown of life, clothed in white garments, a pillar in the temple of God,
not hurt by the second death, etc.
Rev 21:7-8 • People committing these sins will go into the lake of fire (the second death).
Rev 21:27 • People committing these sins will not enter the New Jerusalem.
Rev 22:14-15 • People committing these sins will not enter the New Jerusalem.

666 … Romans (the 6th NT book) 6:6
“… our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin
might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.”

might and should ... just about wraps it up!
Gotta pay close attention to every word!

In the NT, we have this incredible mixture of:
• Blessings
• Explanations
• Exhortations

• Warnings that the Blessings are conditional

That is quite a "to do" list. Do you divide it up according to the days of the week, maybe with a rest on Saturday?

Here's an idea. How about, after salvation, you let the Holy Spirit guide you day to day to become more like Jesus. That is called salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Sure makes things a lot simpler.

I praise the Lord that He has sealed by salvation forever and ever, and I do not have to worry about things like losing salvation. Then again, that takes faith. Faith is opposed to and has nothing to do with a salvation by works. That is the exact gap that caused the anger between Jesus Christ and the Pharisees.

Sat,

Are you aware that they laughed at God's OT prophets and His NT apostles?
Not to mention the Lord Jesus.
Lots of people who speak the truth get laughed at.

No one is laughing. Christ never found the Pharisees amusing. God was not amused at those mocking his prophets. Disagreement is not a synonym for laughter. One is either saved or they or not. If one returns to a pattern of sinful living, without the Holy Spirit leading them back to becoming more like Jesus daily, they were never saved in the first place.

That must be a heavy burden, and a mathematical nightmare. Trying to figure out what you did to lose your salvation, plus not knowing when one is going to die, is not a combination that brings about a peace that passes all understanding.

Good point. I have a problem ignoring posts that are so contrary to Scripture. I am sure you have noticed as of late the great increase in RCC and SDA/charasmatic type posts.

I guess you'd better forget what you've been brainwashed with, and
start figuring out what these dozens of warnings are all about.
Show a little wisdom ... and let us know what you're discovered, okay?

Extra bonus, just for thou ...

If the church could have been so deceived about the Spirit baptism and the spiritual power gifts,
I don't see why it could NOT have been deceived into falling in love with OSAS also.

I've already given a long list of reasons for the church choosing to go with cessationism.

Now for the reason it went for OSAS ... an easy gospel attracts many more converts!

The reasons for these 2 disastrous doctrines deserve a BIG "Dah!", as in "What could be more obvious!"

P.S. From now on, we'll refer to these 2 babies as the DD's ... and I'm presuming that's okay with you.

With all due respect evangelist-7, you are improperly defining and applying the word "might" and "should". It does not mean "maybe" in many of the text you believe it does. You must research it a bit deeper, I will let that up to you.

I will give you an example and ask you a question so you may see how it does not fit into your narrative;

"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." (Eph 5:25-27)

Question; Will Jesus Christ sanctify His bride (the church) and will Jesus Christ present His bride to Himself glorious, having no spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing? Or, do you believe maybe He will?

This is just one example, I could list dozens. I am a big KJV van, but if you are going to quote it and apply it correctly, you need to understand it's way of speaking from the 1700's. Dig a bit deeper, read how other translations put it even.

Here's an idea - just ignore whatever part of the Bible does not fit with OSAS.

or ... maybe not. That probably would not sit too well with those Baptists that agree with the Baptist Confession of Faith - 1689.

Ok - well then we will just have to accept those Bible texts in the OP after all.

in Christ,

Bob

I would have added this to the OP - list

===============

"Instead" of "All that become saved will stay saved" Jesus teaches in Matt 13 that there are 4 different kinds of ground - 3 of which become saved but only 1 "stays saved".

Instead of Jesus teaching that all that become saved by accepting the Gospel - will always choose to stay saved - Jesus points us to the example of "Forgiveness revoked" in Matt 18.

Instead of God teaching that all that become saved by accepting the Gospel - will always choose to stay saved - God points us to the example of the righteous that turn from their walk with God - (God who alone can produce righteousness in the saints) - and when they turn from God all their righteousness is as nothing in Ezek 18.

Notice that in that chapter is it the real saved that are becoming lost for failure to persevere in that saved walk - and it is the real lost that are becoming saved when they turn from their rebellion.

Ezek 18
19 “Yet you say, ‘Why should the son not bear the guilt of the father?’ Because the son has done what is lawful and right, and has kept all My statutes and observed them, he shall surely live.

20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.
21 “But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

22 None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live.
23 Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord God, “and not that he should turn from his ways and live?
24 “But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All the righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; because of the unfaithfulness of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, because of them he shall die.
25 “Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ Hear now, O house of Israel, is it not My way which is fair, and your ways which are not fair? 26 When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity, and dies in it, it is because of the iniquity which he has done that he dies.

27 Again, when a wicked man turns away from the wickedness which he committed, and does what is lawful and right, he preserves himself alive. 28 Because he considers and turns away from all the transgressions which he committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

29 Yet the house of Israel says, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ O house of Israel, is it not My ways which are fair, and your ways which are not fair?

In the examples above God is not arbitrarily casting any out - rather the individuals themselves are turning away from God. "Fallen from Grace - severed FROM Christ" Gal 5:4

And of course let's not avoid Christ's teaching in Romans 11

Rom 11
20 Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear.

21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either.

22 Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off

===========================================
"Forgiveness revoked" model as Matt 18

Matt 18
32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

It works on the same model as Romans 11

===============================================
Romans 11

18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.
20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.

==========================================
Our Methodist/Wesleyan/Seventh-day Adventist/Arminian General Baptist (and of course - Free Will Baptist) friends will notice that the language above is missing the "legally obligated to take those who do not persevere firm to the end" to heaven language.

Just as we see in Ezek 18 - no change.

The whosoever will factor is there - as well as the warning against being the rock-ground that springs up "to LIFE" and receives the Word of Life quickly and with joy - but then later falls away - dying - returning to the dead state Matt 13.

Only the last soil is saved by evidence of their fruits, James explains the same truth of the matter as related to good works or deeds. Also, works do not keep us saved as you have applied the four soil parable.

A failure to incorporate the most vital detail Jesus taught into one's study of any passage of scripture will ultimately cause an error in the doctrine one decides to hold and defend concerning salvation. And that is "ye must be born-again". If regeneration is not understood, nor considered, then passages such as the four soils will be misconstrued in many ways.

Do an in depth study of born-again, born of God, regeneration. Find every passage that deals with this miracle performed by God, then take that information and study the rest of these so called warnings against losing salvation. Suddenly, a different light will become apparently clear.

Just my humble advice :love2:

In Romans 3 we get a description of the soil - dead - no life in it. The sinful nature - "Dead in tresspasses and sins" according to Paul in Eph 2 and Romans 5.

But in Matt 13 it "springs to life" under the Gospel and "receives the Word gladly".

Many of the General Baptists, and Free Will Baptists, Methodist, Adventists etc observe the point that this springing to life is not at all possible for a dead person. It is the born again experience that is being described by the Matt 13 illustration of "springing to life" AND growth in the case of 3 forms of that ground. But only one of the 3 perseveres firm unto the end.

In the parable there is criticism of the "springing to life" , no criticism of "growth" or of "receiving the Word gladly". The only criticism is failure to CONTINUE in that path. Many view that as the issue of perseverance.

However if you argue that they are lost - then "persevering" in that lost state would not have been stated as a necessary thing NOR LACK of perseverance being said to be a bad thing in Matt 13 if indeed it is "persevering in staying lost".

in Christ,

Bob

I do not care about the Baptist Confession of Faith. The fact that you do not know how to interpret Scripture is not my problem. Maybe of gibberish from heaven will clear it up for you.

The good news is that BR, E7 and all of their buddies can't deceive the elect.

For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. - The real Jesus.
