On the upper right corner there is a dash, some squares, and an x. Try clicking the squares. If that gves you full screen then click it again and then move the cursor to the bottom of excel until you get a double arrow, click, hold and drag downward to where you want it.

If this isn't the problem post any other information you can. When you click on the dash does the desktop picture come back?

    Try rebooting.

Thank you for your reply, it seems that this is only happening with photographs. I have had the same photo` up there for many months with no problems ?????????? but suddenly the bottom half of it disappeared and became black.
Anyhow, when I use one of the `stock` backgrounds they fill the screen.

Gwyneth - is this while running Excel, or on your Windows Desktop?

Okay, please take some time and explain, step by step, what's going on. By that I mean, when does the picture start acting funny?

Right now, I'm guessing that you have a Windows Desktop background that's a picture; you start Excel, and when you minimize or close it, the Windows Desktop background is not appearing properly.

If that's not correct, then I need you to explain in which program the picture(s) is/are used, and at what point the picture doesn't appear properly.

Sorry this is taking so long, but I need to understand the problem more fully before being able to provide a corrective action.

Thanks. I'm also assuming that when you set the Desktop background picture, you chose "stretch" to cover the entire screen; if not, then I'm gonna have to mull this over a bit more.

If you did set it to "stretch," then please try setting it to "center" and tell us what happens.

If you've already done that, my apologies; walking through my mental checklist.
