    Study bibles all have to do with one's denominational preference;

    1.If you are a 5 point Calvinist or of the Reformed faith than the "John MacArthur Study Bible" is the best choice hands down

    2.If you are a Regular or Independent Baptist denominations, then without a doubt the "Criswell Study Bible" is the best bible hands down

    3.If you are like me, a Christian who isn't claiming one's denomination has all the answers, then the "Zondervan NASV Study Bible" is the very best study bible out there period. This is has always been my favorite choice. You may also purchase this in the KJV translation, if that is your preference.

    I was about ready to get a Ryrie NASB, but I started reading up on Dispensationalism, and I'm not sure I want to have to filter through that influence when reading the notes...

    I have a Zondervan NIV Study Bible, and I agree, you can't beat it for the notes, cross-references, maps, timelines, etc. The NIV is actually slightly updated (2002) beyond the NASB (2000) version in Zondervan. It really comes down to version preference... I like the readability of the NIV.

    I have both these also, have you noticed a Scofield influence in the KJ study Bible?
