    SUPRALAPSARIAN: God proposed:
    1. to elect some creatable men (that is, men who were to be created) to life and to condemn others to destruction;
    to create;
    2. to permit the fall;
    3. to send Christ to redeem the elect; and
    4. to send the Holy Spirit to apply this redemption to the elect.

    SUBLAPSARIAN: God proposed,
    1. to create man
    2. to permit the fall
    3. to elect some by by His foreknowledge of coming faith
    4. to send Jesus Christ to offer redemption for all who chose to accept Christ of their free will.

    INFRALAPSARIAN: God proposed,
    1. to create;
    2. to permit the fall;
    3. to elect to eternal life and blessedness a great multitude out of this mass of fallen men, and to leave the others, as He left the Devil and the fallen angels, to suffer the just punishment of their sins;
    4. to give His Son, Jesus Christ, for the redemption of the elect; and
    5. to send the Holy Spirit to apply to the elect the redemption which was purchased by Christ.

    Hyper-calvinists would be SUPRA, Arminian would be SUB and Biblicists would be INFRA. Pretty simple stuff.

    I do not see much difference in the infra vs the supra both see the same just worded alittle different.

    but i do agree more with the infra since i am a biblicists. now what are the definitions of the rest of the terms.

    more definitions:

    monergism/synergism is about roles in salvation

    monergism - it is wholly a work of God
    synergism - it is cooperation between God and man, each doing their part

    Good definition JGray

    And add Monergism is calvinistic, while synergism is arminian.

    (But even the most extreme arminian still believes salvation is all of God's grace. Just how we respond to that grace.)

    Supra - God elects some to heaven and elects some to hell 100% by His prerogative.

    Sub - God elects some to heaven but based on their response to the Gospel.

    Infra - God elects some to heaven 100% by His prerogative and allows the non-elect their own response to the Gospel.

    (BTW, I am educated beyond my intelligence, for certain sure)

    The "labels" are just words used to simplify discussion about how we came into a relationship with Christ.

    They are not unholy or ant-biblical or anything else worthy of damning.

    Our (baptists as a whole) refusal to particpate in theological debate is why we have long been viewed as an uneducated and rather stupid lot. It is also why we have so many leaving and going to other denominations.

    They become so when we hang a person's whole Christian character and intergrity of one's salvation on those same labels.
    This board would say otherwise. This board is copiour with piousness, self-righteousness, judging, and stereotyping, based on labels or perceived labels. Heck, I can't even describe myself as a moderate conservative without the extreme fundies questioning my salvation. Personally, I think the Baptist community would benefit as a people of God by backing off from their holier than thou view of themselves. And I say that as a fellow Baptist.

    I would tend to agree with JGrayhound, and appreciate the post by Dr. Bob, giving the basic definitions of the terms of the thread being discussed.
