A lawyer investigating the eligibility of Barack Obama to be president under the U.S. Constitution's requirement that the office be occupied only by a "natural born" citizen is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to cooperate with an FBI investigation into alleged cyber crimes connected to her work.

In a letter addressed yesterday to Chief Justice John Roberts, the associate justices, the Secret Service and others, California lawyer Orly Taitz, who is working on a number of eligibility cases through the Defend Our Freedoms Foundation, wrote, "I hope that the Supreme Court will show proper cooperation in investigation of such crimes by the FBI and other agencies and I request a letter of cooperation to that extent."

Taitz is just one of many attorneys across the country whose clients are raising questions about Obama's eligibility.

WND has reported on dozens of legal challenges to Obama's status as a "natural born citizen." The Constitution, Article 2, Section 1, states, "No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President."

Some of the lawsuits question whether he was actually born in Hawaii, as he insists. If he was born out of the country, Obama's American mother, the suits contend, was too young at the time of his birth to confer American citizenship to her son under the law at the time.

Other challenges have focused on Obama's citizenship through his father, a Kenyan subject to the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom at the time of his birth, thus making him a dual citizen. The cases contend the framers of the Constitution excluded dual citizens from qualifying as natural born.

Adding fuel to the fire is Obama's persistent refusal to release documents that could provide answers. While his supporters cite an online version of a "Certification of Live Birth" from Hawaii, critics point out such documents actually were issued for children not born in the state.

So, MP, are you saying that lawyers should not expect the FBI to investigate possible crimes against them, even when they are exploring something unpopular?

The FBI isn't the personal investigation team for every nut job out there. Getting a law degree notwithstanding.

Actually, it appears that it is the Supreme Court that is the victim in this case.

"She filed a complaint with the FBI, which promised a review, but the investigative agency noted that in that situation, technically the Supreme Court was the "victim" of having its website hacked, and officials there would need to cooperate for the effort to move forward."

If the Supreme Court website was hacked and altered, I would like for the FBI to investigate.

    Do you not agree?

    > The Constitution, Article 2, Section 1, states, "No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President."

The commas around "or a Citizen of the United States" make the interpretation questionable. Without the commas or if the 2nd comma was omitted, it would mean that there were two classes of eligible citizens. With the commas, the second clause is more likely an explanation or definition of the first.

Have you ever heard of the Supreme Court cooperating with the FBI or the CIA? That's not their role in a democracy. If the FBI investigates this and they come up with sufficient evidence the case will come before the court. What doe "cooperating with the FBI" mean? A conspiracy?

The "co-operation" that the FBI is looking for is a complaint filed by the Supreme Court because the court is the victim in this instance because it is their website that was hacked.

The lawyer is not the victim because it was not the lawyer's website that was hacked so the FBI will not act on her complaint.

This idiocy is almost to the point of being funny. I guess the haters of President Obama just can't stand that he is our duly elected leader, thank God! Could you imagine where we would be if McCain had won the election?

Yep, it is an ever present source of amusement that the same quarters of American society that called Gore a crybaby for challenging the Florida vote count; are the same crowd that won't let go of its losing proposition that President Obama doesn't meet the Constitutional requirements of his office.

What is funny here? That someone wants the FBI to investigate the hacking of the Supreme Court website?

First there has to be a crime. So far the presidents qualifications are satisfactory to everyone but the readers of WMD. And we know they are known for their "factual" reporting.

The FBI doesn't have the resources to investigate every allegation from every nut case in the nation and you wouldn't want to fund the tax increases to give them those kinds of resources.

No... What does hacking the supreme courts site have to do with Obama's qualification for POTUS? Even if Obama himself hacked the site, which we know he didn't, it doesn't change where he was born so it doesn't impact the citizenship qualification for POTUS.

We know the founding fathers were not natural born US citizens. That is why it reads that way. Otherwise GW couldn't be president. However, they were the only ones excluded.

But the supreme court nor the justice department asked for any investigation or were they looking for FBI help. This is some lawyer saying the FBI should investigate something she knows no facts about but has made a lot of allegations trying to connect that crime to the Obama citizenship ______.

That's like me connecting my lost watch to the Lindberg baby kidnapping. I hope she doesn't expect to be taken seriously...

Try to focus. Look at the first sentence in the OP...

"A lawyer investigating the eligibility of Barack Obama to be president under the U.S. Constitution's requirement that the office be occupied only by a "natural born" citizen is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to cooperate with an FBI investigation into alleged cyber crimes connected to her work."

The FBI is being asked to look into the hacking of the website... not Obama's citizenship.

Do you not think that the FBI should investige crimes such as the hacking of the Supreme Court's website?

No you need to focus. A woman whose site was hacked and is coincidently looking into the citizenship of Obama now wants to tie her situation to that of the supreme court hacking. If she can tie the two together she will eventually have the FBI looking into Obama citizenship. A blind man can see through that...

I believe we have a justice department and other government officials who know more about what is being done to resolve that matter. Do we need a biased lawyer or other private citizens trying to tell the investigators how to do their job? Is that really your question?

If she has facts, present them. Chief justice already said if you have proof Obama is not a citizen, present it. We can't afford to have the investigators chase every conspiracy theory.

That's the point, there are only accusations.... Do we now chase every accusation? Where would that end? If someone has concrete proof or actual facts I think we'd of seen them by now. But since none have come forward... :wavey:
