Ted Cruz's Campaign Is Accused of Spreading Rumors of Marco Rubio's Withdrawal

Senator Ted Cruz is under fire from Senator Marco Rubio’s campaign, which accuses him and his campaign of employing more “dirty tricks” ahead of the Republican caucuses in Hawaii on Tuesday and spreading false rumors that Mr. Rubio is dropping out of the race.

Emails that appeared to have come from the Cruz campaign were sent to his supporters in Hawaii promoting a CNN report saying some of Mr. Rubio’s advisers see no path for him to win the Republican presidential nomination, and suggesting that he might leave the race before the March 15 primary in Florida. A spokesman for Mr. Rubio said that report is false.

“Senator Cruz is up to his dirty tricks again spreading false rumors and lies,” said Joe Pounder, a spokesman for Mr. Rubio.

    ...
But the Cruz campaign said it had nothing to do with the email, asserting that volunteers in Hawaii sent it without permission. The volunteers have been instructed by the campaign’s lawyers to stop using its logo and remove any similar posts from social media accounts.

“The at-issue email and social media posting was not sanctioned by the Cruz for President campaign,” said Alice Stewart, a spokeswoman for Mr. Cruz. “The campaign became aware of the email this morning by press accounts, and upon investigation learned that some volunteers in Hawaii were involved in the posting.”

And anyone else to whom you repeat it, just in case they may want to repeat it in turn.

Rubio is taking advantage of it to try and smear Ted Cruz...nothing new! My question is why isn't Rubio and Kasich not dropping out, neither can win and they're hurting ted Cruz! If the truly cared about America they would drop out!

The strategy is for Rubio to win Florida and Kasich to win Ohio. These are delegate rich states and the winner gets all the delegates. Thus, Trump would not win these two states which are crucial to get enough delegates to win the nomination outright. Cruz would never win these states if in a race against Trump. So, if you think denying Trump the nomination is good for America, then it makes sense to keep Trump from winning these states.

Well lets hope it works! I don't think America can survive under Trump or the democrats!

I think it will work. I believe Rubio will win Florida and Illinois. That's 168 delegates right there. That would catapult him back into contention. I'm starting to think Kasich has a good chance in Illinois as well. If either Rubio or Kasich can win their home states and also win Illinois, they should stay in the race. If they only win their home state, they should drop out and throw their support to Cruz.

Naw, America will survive, but it will be a lesser country and be on the steeper decline path.

Rubio betrayed Florida. I don't see him winning Florida, and Trump has surprised people everywhere. I thought he would be through in Iowa. I don't think anyone can predict Trump losing Ohio, but we'll see.

Heard a lot of talk of the Pubs changing the rules at the convention to broker it. If that happens, I will help Hillary in the general election by writing in Trump.

Rubio will win Florida. Trump will not win Ohio, Kasich will. Trump has surprised people by losing a bunch of states.

No rules need to be changed at the convention to have a brokered convention. It's the path that the results of the primary are leading up to as things stand right now.

I'll ask again what evidence have you got to lead us to believe he isn't what he says he is?
