thetaterkid...I noticed in your profile your saying. I use that saying a lot. How did you come to pick your nickname?

If you think about body temperature, a hot drink has less detrimental effect on the body than does an iced drink. The iced-drink feels cool in the mouth, but must adjust to the body's temperature beyond the throat. Ask any doctor. Ice cream can give one an headache on a hot day, as can a cold drink. Coffee or tea will never cause an headache.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Sherrie,

Almost everyone in my family has a nickname. Alot of thought goes into picking a nickname. My mom use to call me Taylor-bug when I was little kid. That was cute then, but when I got on the baseball field "Taylor-bug" was unsettling.

TheTaterKid came from Will Rogers "The Cherokee Kid". I had a bicycle dubbed "comanchee".

JonMagee, the movie, "Holes" has a very involved plot. The young boy shows a pleasant, caring personality and character. There are surprises at every turn in the story. Stanley is sent to
a detention camp for stealing tennis shoes. He was innocent. It is humourous, entertaining, and even has some lessons for children without being obvious to them.

It is based on a book that fifth graders are reading by Louis Sachar of Austin, Texas.

Yep, Sherrie, he does sound a little like Elvis. My dh doesn't care for his stuff for that reason. I own his first CD but not his second one (yet) [IMG]

My kids & I want to see "Holes" but probably won't until it comes out on video/dvd

Well good morning everyone. Hope all is well this morning. 48F this morning. Thats a little chilly.

Today is the kids last day home from school for easter break. They were off Thurs. and Fri. last week, and Mon. and Tues. this week.

About 10 years ago it was a very old tradition the kids got out of school for two week to help pick cotton. Not sure why they don't anymore. Maybe it was because they weren't really helping. Well, I know some kids did really work hard. Maybe it was child labor rules or something.

Seeker passes a pot of freshly brewed java to Jon. "Here you go...sorry for the wait." New carpet? That sounds lovely. I long for new carpet, ours needs replacing so badly.

I just got back from taking my son to the doctor for a check up. Jordan is so ticklish, he had a difficult time being examined by the doctor. He's fine, he's 57 1/4" tall and 81.4 lbs. He's 10, 11 in June. The doctor gave him a perscription for allergies. We'll get it filled after pay day. ;)

Tomorrow is Haven's turn, then we're done with doctor appts. for a couple of years.

I have to make a dentist appt for Lauren. (4) She's getting cavities, poor thing. My mother said "Aw, so she got the bad English blood, rickets etc. from our ancesters." Great! I think it's because of her warm milk before bed habit and her love for candy. She's healthy in every other respect, so for that I can be thankful.

I'm tired, I can't drink coffee this time of day, or I won't be able to sleep at all at night.

Oh, forgot to mention, I finally got over my insomnia. P.T.L.
