    Hi Jim! [IMG]

Glad to see you made it back safely. Have fun with your granddaughter while she is with you. When do your daughter and younger granddaughter plan on coming?

Hi Rod, and thanks. Doctor Jo is coming up June 20th with the other granddaughter, staying a week and then all three are going back to Florida.

That is all the time Jo could spare this year, but to be honest, that is enough for me all at once.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Jim - I missed your devotional today - I'd say quit waiting on your family - but family comes first in this situation.

Sherrie - my heart goes out to you - I am praying for you.

    God bless,
    Dan Todd

Dan...I just haven't gotten around to writing it to-day. When I travel like that, I usually type it in later or on Saturday. My morning devotions took place as usual and I have my thoughts in mind. Just need to take the time to write them down.

I am really pleased that these little devotions are proving to be a blessing to others. Isn't that what sharing the Lord's word is all about? Who knows when a stranger might visit and find the joys of knowing the Christ. God be praised!

    Cheers,

    Jim

On the way home from work this afternoon - I stopped at an Amish greenhouse - wow did they have flowers - hanging baskets, etc.

I got my tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, and cabbage, but I forgot to get peppers.

While I was there I got Jan two hanging baskets - just filled with flowers. She loves flowers. The 10" baskets were $14.95 and the 12" baskets were 17.95. Jan tells me that is very inexpensive - especially for what I got.

Every June our hometown has a celebration called Crazee Daze. Tonight the Fire Department had a chicken BBQ - it was great - I took Jan. We watched a human tractor pull - it was fun to watch four young men pull a 12,000 pound tractor 30 feet in about 16 seconds.

Then we went back to the Amish Greenhouse and I got her another hanging basket - I think that I am spoiling her - or maybe bribing her so she won't complain when I spend so many hours on BB. :D [IMG] [IMG] :D

PS - she was looking over my shoulder while I am writing this post - so I have to be extra good - nice - etc.

    Get the picture:

Blackbird is in the hospital--there seems to have been a terrible unfortunate accident on his way home from the dentist office.

Blackbird's wife is in the room with him--she's holdin' his ha . .--I mean, the TV remote channel. Blackbird is in a daze! He don't know what day it is!! He don't remember what's gonna happen at the Coffee Shop on the 26th of June! Nothin'!

There's a knock on the door--five women come in--Sherrie, Sue, Sheila, Audrey, and Abby--the hospital authorities question Abby's age--doesn't look a day over the 15 year old age limit--the hospital Blackbird is in is strict on policy! But Sherrie is able to bribe the janitor into lettin' her in just this once!

The ladies somehow had gotten the code--you need a code number to get into the hospital Blackbird is in--talk about a weird hospital!!! Nobody smiles! No "Nurse Goodbody!" Nothin'! I don't know where they got the code from--just one thing I'll have to work on when I get out--who on the board is "blabbin'" and poppin' off and sayin' things--about Blackbird!

They introduce themselves to my wife--I'm still groggy and at first I think they're Jehovah's Witnesses or the Mormans--but I know better 'cause one of um has had her tongue pierced--and that's against both religions---like dancin' to a Southern Baptist!!!

They ask my wife what's wrong! She's hesitant at first 'cause she don't want anything to be used against me---but---with tears in her eyes---she tells the ladies---

    "Blackbird has amnesia!"

The ladies burst out with tears which runs the stock prices of Kleenex up dramatically in no time!!(the TV is stuck on the Dow Jones report averages for the day!)--they can't believe it! It happened so fast!!

My wife continues---"It isn't as bad as you ladies believe! If he were a little better I would say he's bluffin' just to get attention! He can remember names and faces and the good that he has done to advance people there in the Coffee Shop! But he can't remember ever, never "hecklin'" anybody about anything. The doctors say(it takes more than just one doctor to examine Blackbird's superior mind!) he may never remember ever "hecklin'"! Listen, ladies! Blackbird talks about ya'll a lot and he is gonna ask forgiveness soon as he is able--ask ya'll to forgive him of all of the hecklin' and jecklin' he's done--cause he don't remember doin' any of that stuff and he is set to deny it all in a court of law!"

Sherrie then asks my wife---with tears streemin' down her face--"Mrs. Blackbird! Do you mind if I ask Blackbird a few questions?"

    "Sure, go ahead!"

"Blackbird! What do you know about the flowers? Do you remember ever hecklin' me about the bouquet somebody sent over??"

I try to speak---then I ask the nurse for a cup of ice--anything to wet my parched lips and cotton feelin' in my throat---so I can talk.

"No, I'm afraid I don't recall any flowers! You mean I've been hecklin' you about some flowers?? Have mercy, can you ever forgive me?? What flowers??---the last thing I remember was sittin' in the dentist's office when five ladies walk in with a birthday cake and then there was a struggle--and somebody manages to put the laughin' gas mask over my nose---and somebody else in the corner--actually two somebodies--one an older lady--brownish/black hair--sorta curly--kept sayin' somethin' like--Sixteen--over and over!! Another one was twistin' in the valve to the laughin' gas---teenage lookin'---then the amnesia set in--and thats all the bad I remember---honest! And as soon as I get out of this hospital---I'm gonna go back to the Coffee Shop--apologize to Sherrie and start fresh and new!!" If its hecklin' and jecklin'--it'll be good hecklin' and jecklin'---"

There is a sigh of relief on Sherrie's face! Nobody will ever know now!! Never!

Now, ladies! How long will it take this laughin' gas to wear off of me????!!

Your Southern Baptist preachin', gas laughin' buddy,
    Blackbird

Dan Todd!! Dannnnnnnnnn! Daaaaaaaaaaan Toddddd! Listen! Way back in 1959--my dad and mom gave my twin brother away for adoption---are you him???? The doctors explained to daddy and momma that Harvard and Yale would be callin' in a few short years--and because daddy only worked as a PBX repairman for Ma Bell---our two educations together would not be affordable---turns out I was smart enough where I didn't have to go to school---amazed and bedazzled a many a teacher!! They'd sit and look at me standin' at the blackboard with their mouths wide open--snappin' the lead in their pencils and drainin' a Bic Clic dry in no time tryin' to write down all the information Blackbird was guiding them through at the chalkboard!!

A 12,000 pound tractor! Maaaaaaaaaan! 6 tons of pure diesel goodness!!! Was the tractor cranked up? Was it idlin' or was the rpm's "on up there?" Was the gear shift kicked on over in neutral?? I'm havin' to evaluate these things--ask my brother a few tough questions---what color was the tractor??? Red?(CaseInternational) Yellow(Minnapolis-Moline)? Orange(Kobota) Blue(Ford-New Holland)----just couldn't have been Green! Don't you sit there at your computer desk and tell me that that tractor was Green!!

By golly---get Jan on the keyboard!!! Let me talk her into somethin'---Jan! This is Blackbird! My wife has a long lost twin sister---birth certificate origin--Talledega, Alabama! You don't suppose . . .!????

Your Southern Baptist preachin', tractor pullin' buddy,
    Blackbird

Sounds like blackbird tied on a good drunk with laughing gas. I hope his church folk don't get wind of it - even more I hope he don't get used to it - who knows - maybe he'll have to graduate to sodium pentithal (truth serum - my spelling is bad on this one that the spell checker is of no help)!!!

And it doesn't wear off.. we.. um.. I mean.. they .. yeah.. they used "special" gas... [IMG]

Blackbird says (remember he's under the influence of laughing gas):
Brother - it wasn't green - it was blue (Ford). There was an operator in it - I hope it was in neutral - idling. It was actually fun to watch the young men do their thing. :D

Mother says that my birth certificate says 1949 - but who knows - using Sherrie's way of computin - we could be twins.

Please don't forget June 26 - or we'll probably both be booted out of the coffee shop for next year or two.

I read your last post to Jan - she thinks we're all crazy! [IMG]

Anybody in the Coffee Shop miss Laurenda besides me??

    And where is Gib?

Audrey! Audrey! Audrey! Don't let Ninety-Nine(Jim1999) hear you say that! Are you married? Is your husband ready to arm wrestle Blackbird?? Can he steer a JD 4430 from daylight to dark and have his wife beg him to get off of it and come in and eat?? I've got my eyes on folks who have their eye on me---Blackbird sees all and knows all and time to time he tells all!! Glad you are my friend--I'll promise I'll watch out for you if you venture out of the Coffee Shop onto some of the more darein' threads---promise!

    Your friend,
    Blackbird

Hello everyone. I finally got around to penning this morning's devotions. Sorry I am so late with it.......but, you know, had the long drive to-day.

    Cheers, and God's richest blessings,

    The ancient Jim

I hear someone saying that 1949 was old!!!! What does that make 1927?
