States with more conservatives are considerably poorer than those with more liberals. Conservative political affiliation is highly negatively correlated with income ( -.65) and even more so with hourly earnings (-.79). . .

Conservatism, at least at the state level, appears to be growing stronger. Ironically, this trend is most pronounced in America's least well-off, least educated, most blue collar, most economically hard-hit states. Conservatism, more and more, is the ideology of the economically left behind. The current economic crisis only appears to have deepened conservatism's hold on America's states. This trend stands in sharp contrast to the Great Depression, when America embraced FDR and the New Deal. . .

Liberalism, which is stronger in richer, better-educated, more-diverse, and, especially, more prosperous places, is shrinking across the board and has fallen behind conservatism even in its biggest strongholds. This obviously poses big challenges for liberals, the Obama administration, and the Democratic Party moving forward. . . .

But the much bigger, long-term danger is economic rather than political. This ideological state of affairs advantages the policy preferences of poorer, less innovative states over wealthier, more innovative, and productive ones. American politics is increasingly disconnected from its economic engine. And this deepening political divide has become perhaps the biggest bottleneck on the road to long-run prosperity.

It seems to be a truism that the more wealth people have the more "liberal" they become, politically that is.

It is also a fact that "economically disadvantaged" people are more generous with their wealth than rich people with few exceptions.

It is also a fact that the Federal Tax System provides big loopholes and tax breaks for those with great wealth.

Wealth tends to congregate in urban areas which seem to either demand or require big government and entitlement mentality.

One additional point: I believe "liberal" or "progressive" are misnomers for the political philosophy of these people. They are reactionary in that they want more government control over the lives of people, just like the old kings and emperors.

They are not called "limousine liberals" for nothing. They can afford to be liberal with OUR money. Those who cannot afford to support those who will not support themselves are the ones who make this country work.

"Liberal" has the same root as "liberty." Those who believe in liberty are not on the left.

The word "Progressive" comes right out of "The Communist Manifesto" and many of the leftists today are trending toward Communism.

What Leftists advocate today is the dictatorship of the central government (the supreme soviet). "Cradle to grave" Socialism is simply the abdication of our responsibility to care for ourselves and our families.

And they call Republicans the party of the rich.

    Somewhat contradictory, it seems.

Liberalism is primarily the tool of fools. Money won't buy good sense.

Every state in this country that is run predominately by liberals is broke. California, Michigan, Wisconsin (although that is being rectified with the new Governor) Ohio ( again being rectified) New Jersey (same here) . Liberals tear states apart. The facts are in.

Jesus said to let your response be "yes" or "no." There is always a way to circumvent any law of God or man. In this case, using quotation marks?

So, Bill, are you saying you are a hypocrite for saying more than just "yes" or "no?"

That is not what he is saying at all. What qualifies as hypocritical on this board is to claim to be a conservative Christian and turn right around and support Mitt Romney.

    That and the contrast between

    >They are not called "limousine liberals" for nothing.

    and

    >"If you can't answer a man's argument all is not lost you can still call him vile names" Elbert Hubbard.

"limousine liberals" is meant as a polite designation?
