    1 Peter 5:1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
    2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
    3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
    4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. (KJV)

    Clearly, the Scriptures teach that this crown will be given to faithful pastors who serve the Lord with a pure heart. Is this crown exclusive to pastors alone?

    Consider Matthew 10:41 "He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward." (KJV)

    Can this crown be shared by those faithful church members who "receive" their pastor as the Bible tells them to?

    Crowns are symbolic of rewards we receive at the Bema Seat of Christ for works done while in the body (2 Cor. 5:10). Recognition and commendation will be given to Pastors (1 Pet. 5:4), to those who perseveres under trials (James 1:12) and to those who have longed for his appearing (2 Tim. 4:8). The degree of reward will be based on what we have done with our lives as Christians.

    Mt. 10:41-42
    Those who accept a prophet, or a righteous man or an unimportant person as disciples of Christ will be rewarded for their hospitality. Heavenly treasures are stored in heaven for good works done on earth (Mt. 6:20)..

    Also, don't forget that many will suffer loss at the bema, and possibly even chastisement.

    On the subject of crowns:

    There are two words associated with crowns, stephanos (or some variation thereof) and diadema (or some variation therof). Below is every occurrence of both, and you can click the link to download the parsing of each verse. Diadema has to do with sovereignty, while stephanos has to do with a victor’s wreath (crown) or reward.
