Mob Rule or Democracy in Action? Health Care Debate Focuses on Opponents Over Substance

Democrats are stepping up their campaign against opponents of health care reforms, depicting town hall audiences protesting a Democratic-sponsored bill as angry mobs duped into hostile actions by special interest groups.

Democrats are stepping up their campaign against opponents of health care reforms, depicting town hall audiences protesting a Democratic-sponsored bill as angry mobs duped into hostile actions by special interest groups.

The Democratic National Committee released a Web video and e-mail on Wednesday blasting opponents of the 10-year, $1 trillion plan.

Titled "Enough of the Mob," the ad warns that the "right wing extremist base" is back after losing the presidential election, a series of legislative battles and the confidence of Americans.

"Now, desperate Republicans and their well-funded allies are organizing angry mobs -- just like they did during the election," the ad says. "Their goal? Destroy President Obama and stop the change Americans voted for overwhelmingly in November."

The ad goes on to dismiss the protests as "mob activity straight from the playbook of high-level Republican political operatives. They have no plan for moving our country forward, so they've called out the mob."

The e-mail outlines what it says are five facts about the "anti-reform mobs," including an accusation that these operatives are trying "to intimidate and silence regular people who just want more information."

"It's time to expose this charade, before it gets more dangerous," Jen O'Malley, head of the DNC, said, urging recipients to pass it along.

It's an old ploy accuse your opponents of doing the exact same thing you are doing. There's a word for it. Hypocrisy.

With the added twist that Obama is taking names of the opposition...

And asking Americans to report on their neighbors...

    Wow!!!

Before I say this I just want to make clear I am not an Obama supporter. I don't support any party I believe in individual liberty and the constitution.

Now with that being said, Bush and Cheney also loved the idea of a total surveillence state and police state. Most of the so called "democracies" around the world do.

Bush and Cheney also loved the idea of citizen snitch squads. So, this is not an Obama vs Bush or republicans vs democrats deal at all. This is a state vs the people deal.

That's what makes it really scary.

All this from people who intimidated voters at the polls. Folks, you are seeing a tyranny in the making right before your eyes in the USA. This man has no intention of ever leaving the WH in 3-1/2 years. Mark my words.

Of course he doesn't. Most first term presidents seem to run for re-election.

Well, there is a small difference...

Bush was concerned about terrorists plotting to harm our nation and kill Americans.

Obama is concerned about citizens that disagree with his vision for our national health care.

i agree but would reword the last point somewhat. I believe that Obama is looking for a way to ration medical care to the elderly and infirm. What a way to solve the Social Security and Medicare problems.

Why should he step down in 3.5 years; he will be reelected.

Now if he isn't reelected and he still refuses to step down, I will leave the BB; however, if he does step down, you leave. Deal? :tongue3:

If he refuses to leave then there will be no BB. Probably only sharia law.

Well, that's what all the Bush propaganda said. The historical record shows reality to be quite different.

    Please Do.

Poncho, you occasionally make some good points but your endless stream of conspiracy theories masks the good points you make.

By the way I notice that both Ron Paul and now his son are running as Republicans! How about that?

You have a deal. I, however, believe that he is in there for life and the majority ruling Democratic party will see to it. He will be our last and final president. At some point in the remaining 3-1/2 years, we turn from a Democratic Republic into a fiefdom run by Obama and his thugs with a tyrannical fist of iron. It is about to unfold. There are rough days ahead while patriots will fight to retain liberty and freedom. It won't be pretty. Remember these posts as surely one day, internet access will be unplugged as a "weapon used by the enemies of the State." I won't be able to respond then and say I told you so.

You should consider a career writing fiction.

Now, what you say is possible, but I don't believe it will happen.

    Targus and OR,

You both know I can. I've done it in several thousands of posts already. Y'all always find something to dismiss the information. Either you say the author is a liberal Bush hater, or you find fault with my sources for one "reason" or another.

I've tried my best to be honest with you guys. I've done my best to proof my sources even going on to post only from mainstream sources you all say you trust like major newspapers and tv shows. I've posted hundreds if not thousand of the actual documents and policy papers and still you dismiss the information.

Why should I keep wasting my time trying to inform you all when all you seem to really want to do is live in mainstream propaganda la la land? I ain't getting any younger fellas and I got other things I'd prefer to be doing than wasting my time trying to "prove" what should be obvious to all of you. Don't get me wrong I really enjoy chewing the fat with you all but sheesh I keep chewing the same old fat over and over and it's getting really stale.

No, this isn't a copout you know better than that, at least OR does. Very rarely do I ever miss a chance to lay the evidence out for you all, but man alive I'm getting tired of having to explain the same things, post the same documents, the same newspaper articles, the same policy papers, quoting from the same books and the same globalist authors who not only write the books I've read and quoted from but the policies that eventually congress passes into law and the policies that eventually get acted upon.

By now it should be painfully obvious to all of you that the government is totally corrupt and is bought and paid for by special interests like the international bankers and mega conglomerated transnational corporations. You won't even listen the very people who founded this country on the dangers of government for crying out loud! They didn't warn us about liberals or democrats or republicans and conservatives they warned us about designing and deceitful men and how power corrupts. Why do you think they labored so hard to write a constitution? To control the people? To keep democrats from gaining power? To keep republicans out of congress? NO! They wrote it so we'd know what a good government was supposed to look like. Do you see a good government around here anywhere lately??? Did you see a good government under Bush and the republicans? Do you see it now under Obama and the democrats?

Just get with it please, Bush was no hero he was a puppet to the power elite every bit the same as Obama is. They want world government and CONTROL! TOTAL CONTROL!!! They can and do use both parties to get what they want. It doesn't matter who or what the president is they are all deceiving and deceitful liars bought and paid for before they even take the oath they can't wait to break. Their only purpose is to slowly and little by little convince us an all powerful world government and being their slaves is the only solution to all our problems. The very same problems they caused!

Look down at my signature. You think I made all that up? Who would have been McCain's foreign policy adviser if he was "elected"? Richard Haas past president of the CFR! Another globalist same as Brzezinski! You think we'd have a different policy under the republicans? Ha Ha Ha! Democrats and repubilcans don't make policy people like Haas and Brzezinski do then they dictate it to whoever is in office. Hillary just admitted as much in a speech to the CFR do I have to point out the thread I posted that in again and again or do you remember it?

This is the kind of thinking you'd have had under a McCain presidency.

This is the kind of thinking we now have under the Obama presidency.

"Moreover, as America becomes an increasingly multi-cultural society, it may find it more difficult to fashion a consensus on foreign policy issues, except in the circumstance of a truly massive and widely perceived direct external threat." (p. 211)

    MORE:

The technotronic era involves the gradual appearance of a more controlled society. Such a society would be dominated by an elite, unrestrained by traditional values (like liberty and democracy). Soon it will be possible to assert almost continuous surveillance over every citizen and maintain up-to-date complete files containing even the most personal information about the citizen. These files will be subject to instantaneous retrieval by the authorities.

    - Between Two Ages: America's Role in the Technetronic Era, 1970

"In the technotronic society the trend would seem to be towards the aggregation of the individual support of millions of uncoordinated citizens, easily within the reach of magnetic and attractive personalities exploiting the latest communications techniques to manipulate emotions and control reason."

    - Between Two Ages : America's Role in the Technetronic Era - 1970

"This regionalization is in keeping with the Tri-Lateral Plan which calls for a gradual convergence of East and West, ultimately leading toward the goal of one world government. National sovereignty is no longer a viable concept." --- Zbignew Brzezinski, National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter (It's not that I'm "nationalist". It's that the Bill of Rights will fade away too.)

"What is most important to the history of the world? The Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet empire? Some stirred-up Muslims or the liberation of Central Europe and the end of the cold war?" - 1998 interview

    SOURCE

So, which is better . . . globalist republicans or globalist democrats?

If you ask me anyone who supports either party has been deceived and has rocks in their heads. George W. Bush wasn't trying to protect you from terrorists at all. He was using the threat of terrorism to convince you to go along with an expanded police state, less privacy, less freedom and martial law just to mention a few things.

Poncho, I don't recall you and I ever interacting before (except on the trilateral stuff) so I don't know how it is that can say these things.

I can honestly say that I do not dismiss information or say that an author is this or that.

"Liberal Bush hater" is not in my vocabulary.

Sorry, friend, I can understand how you may be frustrated posting here on the board - sometimes I feel the same way - but my request for an example was reasonable.

    Ain't no big thing. :)

How does this differ from basic responsibility. When the neighbor called the police on Gates, it was said she did what was right. Now you're saying citizens should sit idle and allow misinformation to be disseminated uncorrected?

Hosea said my people perish for lack of knowledge. I don't mind a person being for or against health care reform, but I would like them to stand on truthful facts and not have a position based on rhetoric. I would think you would feel the same since the Bible teaches a solid foundation must contain truth.
