Conservatism still means the same it once did. There just aren't many conservatives left supporting it.

Are you contending that the "conservatism" that you support is the constitutional conservatism of 35 years ago?

I guess so. I'm sort of a Reagan conservative.
    I'm against big govt
    Pro Life
    For individual rights and responsibilities
Anti homosexual rights of any kind
    Anti- one world order
    Pro Israel
    Pro Bible
Anti man being cause for global warming
Against this pseudo scientific community seizing public thought
Anti- pseudo Christianity that's so prevalent today
Totally against all this demand for socialism
    etc.

Rufus: "If we drove all the gay priests out of the priesthood, our Masses would be on videotape.” - Paul Wilkes

    Seems like a positive direction

That's a pretty strong list but that isn't what the "conservativism" of today is being represented as.

    Our "conservative" president is:
    • Big gov't
    • Pro-life in words, pro-choice in deeds
    • Pro-homosexual and has implemented the pinkest executive in national history
    • Pro-global government
    • Pro pseudo Christianity as he thinks Muslims can go to Heaven
    • Pro socialist gov't handouts, greatest levels of spending and debt in history

If you notice on the Freedom Index many of the folks that are called "conservative "don't rate much higher than 50% on their Constitutional voting record. Notice Lott, Voinovich, Hatch and Graham, what is it that they are trying to conserve? However, Ron Paul who is at 100% is commonly called "liberal". Then people like Paul Craig Roberts who served with Reagan and was a key cog in Reaganomics, he's considered to be an author of "leftist trash" because he speaks out against our so-called "conservative" leadership.

Soooo, whether for better or worse (I vote worse), what was called conservatism in the Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan era or even well before that with Robert Taft, does not resemble what is supposedly today's "conservatism" and I think the John Birch Society has a pretty valid point in saying that the word "conservative" has changed quite significantly.
