    Up next...

Writing Assignment: If you were given a free day from school what things would you do?

Reaction: How dare they say that my child can be given anything by a government funded instiution such as a school!

Writing Assignment: Write a story about what you did on summer vacation.

Reaction: I can't believe these government employees are trying to pry into my personal life! It is no concern of theirs what my child does when they aren't at school!

Writing Assignment: Who is your hero and why?

Reaction: This is blasphemy! I know they are inferring that this is an earthly hero and they are trying to exalt some one to be greater than Jesus!

Writing Assignment: Write a story about your family.

Reaction: Here they are again trying to pry into my personal life!

    Good grief...get a grip.

Finding menace in your own shadeow would be a more appropriate title for this thread.

Of course, if you watch Doctor Who, you already know about the menace found in shadows.

In a post prior to the election I stated that one school had the children singing a song about our "DearLeader" so I am not surprised. Actually I have heard of worse than this on Fair and Balanced Fox News.

It's not difficult at all to find worse things done to our children than what happened to OP's child.

The assignment is reasonable. Would it have been ojectionable to have asked the students to write about what dream would they have liked G. Bush to have fulfilled during his terms as president?

Any time a new president is sworn into office I expect there are assignments in many schools asking students to write about their hopes, dreams, wishes they would like a the new president to fulfill. There is nothing wrong with that as an assignment. It certainly is not indoctrination. It is not asking the students to worship the new president. It is not saying the new president can fulfill their dreams It is simply asking them what they hopes are.

Why not take a neutral position at least for a year to see what he does before declaring him a failure?
